You know, without a log of the exact conversation I can't help but suspect that this guy probably brought it on himself. Generally speaking, even in games with the worst customer service, GMs do not throw insulting labels at people without cause. Unless Takashi is a complete tool (and that's IS possible; there's one DAoC CSR like that), I can't imagine he flat out said something only the lines of "you exploited, deal with it" unless he was baggered and pestered to do something he shouldn't do, which is remove a DP, and this guy couldn't take no for an answer. Sometimes, with some people, you have to use the old verbal +5 club of clueing upside some people's heads, and that sounds like what this probably was to me, a kind of "get a clue you twit" kind of thing.
Let's face it, outside of disconnecting in the middle of a fight, DP is caused in most instances by player stupidity (yes, trying to run to Matis with a 61 2h as your highest skill is in fact pretty damn stupid, but I had to try --- and suffered a nasty DP for it too), so why should it ever be lifted? Because you were dumb enough to radically imbalance your character, and continue to act in a way that's dumb given changed circumstances in the game, it's a GMs responsibility to take care of your problems? Don't think it is, and don't think it should be.
And IMO, if this guy whines about the use of a single word "exploit" here (hm, ever think maybe that's how they refer to it internally, even if they don't/didn't punish people for it, as an "exploit" of the design? Doesn't matter what they call it, only if you'll be punished for it) then he probably REALLY whined about his DP. I can imagine the GM got a bit annoyed and said something snappish just to end the conversation. Is that abuse of the GM, or by the GM, or both? Problem is though, GMs are people too and don't like having to deal with stupid whiney people complaining about stupid whiny crap that they brought on themselves and can and should fix themselves, when they have real problems to deal with. Sheesh, can we as players agree to stop going to the GMs to "fix our whittle boo-boos" when we bang up against our own stupidty, and let them deal with some of the real problems in the game, and/or work on doing cool stuff? If you do stupid crap and suffer a massive DP, just suck it up and clear it and just shut up rather than complain about having to do so.

Just the fact that he called a GM about this shows you are mostlikely right.. His charater was not bugged. He could work off the DP he earned. He was complaining about a minor change to the game and wanted the GM to reset his DP. The prime roots are not ment for lower level players. I do not think anyone ever entered them thinking that, however I would not consider this an exploit since you are not bypassing any part of the game systems.
The blasting MOBs across water .. well this could go either way. Either it is tactics or it is exploiting but both are really cheesy ways of playing. This is one aspect of UO I dont really miss. Now if this is to be considered an exploit I would like to see someone make an announcement about it on the forums and mainpage. Till then people will do it and cant really be blamed for the fact the AI doesnt know enough to run away.

BTW, to take this one step futher. The surviving homins from the Great Swarming were ushered INTO the roots:
"The kitins set out on a crusade to obliterate all traces of hominkind. Many homins were able to escape through the teleportation 'rainbows' leading to safe haven in the Prime Roots of faraway lands. Kami and Karavan forces did their best to give homins safe conduct to the rainbows until these too were destroyed by kitins.
http://www.ryzom.com/?page=story_kitin"
and with that being the case why aren't our Prime Roots STILL safe havens (remember, we still are not in the same location as our original home lands but in those faraway lands)
"Refugees in their droves were at last able to rejoin the newly flourishing civilizations that had resurfaced from the Prime Roots in the new lands of promise.
http://www.ryzom.com/?page=story_exodus"
With this in mind, is it any wonder that we felt the Prime Roots were fair game?
But it seems that you've missed this part of the History of Atys:
Since we're still on Atys, and we originally got to these "far away" lands via the Prime Roots, then it's safe to say that the Kitin were somehow able to find a path to this part of the world too. I'm not saying they found the same path, but the Kitin somehow found a path to through the Prime Roots to this part of the world and are still a threat to homin kind. Just to put things into the context of the game, the increased patrols within the Prime Roots would be indicative of the Kitins communicating with each other and showing organizational skills. Stepping up the patrols in the Prime Roots in this part of the world after their attack on the Matis and after Homin have intruded into
their realm is not too suprising. It means that the Kitin definitely know where we are now and that we're going to have to be more alert to their precense than before.

OK guys, I think this has been thouroughly discussed by now. Many people have given their opinions. I think it best to just get it behind us and so I'll be closing this thread in order to do that.
