other thing about the GPL , once its out there, its out there. so 10 years from now you can still have a running game.

I would work on the code too, I have also programming in my skills.

Have you got the NeL engine? I think you have. I have it. It's free, as you for sure know.

If Ryzom will be released GPL, i will for sure check it out. And, many many developers will do.

I was not debating about how wonderful could be having the source code, only that this will not turn Ryzom automatically in 'Atys revamped'.

I prefer a solid, esperienced Company but, of course, if the only choice will be the Free Project, I will support it.


Altought some of the projects mentioned by macpete are not comparable with Ryzom and the resources needed to run it in a decent way, i agree mostly with him.

Let's see if The Free Ryzom Project can get some good sponsor on the way...

last time they and the FSF combined put together 170000 euro. this of course made GF think ryzom was worth something since so much money was being raised for it....
