My name is Hekla, and I am a kind, peaceful and unguilded Hominette of the Tryker civilization.
When I came to Mainland (( about six months ago )), I was already quite handy with a pick. My Forest forage was 65, from all the digging in the Jungle on Silan. So I figured I should keep digging in the Forest, and chose Yrkanis. Bummer, I was a Tryker, had burnt all my craft points on Silan, and didn't have a clue where to look. After a few days of digging some Fine mats, I lost heart and gave up, went to sleep.
Two seasons ago, I woke up, and decided to make my way to Knoll of Dissent and dig a little in Abyss of Ychor. I was fortunate enough to meet a few nice Homins there, who told me of the politics of Atys and introduced me to the Tryker language, of which I had not heard before...
Then, last season, I found new resolve. I decided to train up for it and make the journey to the Lakelands all by myself. Tried South, through Heretic's Hovel, but the place was deadly to me, ten times over, and I gave up on that route. Tried North, through Hidden Source, but died again, ten times over, and decided to become stronger.
My old friend Deraniel, who had come to Mainland much before me, had given me a nice Q70 HA and matching blades a good while ago, as a welcome present. So I took it upon myself to do a little gardening, and spent six Atys months training on silly plants in Den of Fury, taking back my loot to my three faithful Packers in Davae, just to afford melee and invulnerability auras.
Then, having just reached level 90 in one-handed melee, I purchased a Q100 HA, went to the trainer for the auras. I was fortunate enough to have a good map, on which were laid out a few of the safe and unsafe spots.
The Ramp up to Hidden Source was clean. Died four times looking for the right way through it, but managed to find the way to the Berello Outpost, then to the outskirt of the Falls' forest. With the TP in sight, I stayed close to the Bolobi and waited for a couple of Torbaks and Cuttlers to move out of the way, then made a run for it and finally, finally, found the way out of the Forest! I knew that, once Hidden Source was behind me, the rest would be less kincherous.
The Desert was yuboplay, lots of space to see where to go, and plenty of safe zones to run to. Eventually made it to Pyr, ran to the Guards in Dyron to let them get rid of a couple of nasty Frahars that took to following me, then stepped into Under Spring.
Lots of waiting involved in Under Spring. Had to back a few times due to Kipuckas and Jugulas blocking the way, but Spring appeared to be the right season, as in many places, the edges were mostly safe.
The Jungle was even easier than the Desert. I don't think I ran into a single aggressive critter while making my way to Grove of Umbra. However, I ran into Zoann just outside Zora, first time ever I laid eyes on such a creature. Well, I had met Ora a few times, right in the middle of Davae too, but all I did to this fine fellow is help it defeat a crazed team of Baying Gingos who might be just a little too much for him to handle...
Had to wait for my third attempt to make it through Trench of Trials. I ran into a couple of Varinx the first time while trying to escape from Cutes. The second time, a Cute managed to stun me and got a few of his friends to finish me off. The third time, I simply outran them and made my way to the peaceful flowers area easily, then looked for the vortex...
I made a long pause before making the jump to the Lakes. Then ran through.
The Lakes! Lochi! Lochi! I shouted my joy so all region would know! Beautiful Zerx! Cutes by the dozen! The Lakes! Hahaha! Wooooooo! I sat there in contemplation, tried to engage a conversation with a couple of Cutes from a distance (but dang they do lack in communication skills and make no sense whatsoever).
I stood up and readied for the final stretch. Had one useless death in Bounty Beaches, went East instead of South looking for the vortex, silly me. Then... Fount! Fount! Now THAT's a digging spot! I pumped my little fists in joy, knowing that I would soon find rest in Fair Haven. I wish I could have waved to a big blue lizard who, I'm told, lives near the Fount Outpost, but I was in a hurry now and made straight for Liberty Lakes. In the passageway, Mermaidia and a few of her friends were beating up Yelks, and I couldn't resist telling them shamelessly of my exploit, so eager was I to share my joy. As I passed through, I screamed like the mad little proud Hominette who wouldn't ask for help that I am, and ran like a Homin child on the beach, then splashed about in the water. Yay SWIMMING! A Tryker is made for swimming!
I can't think of anything more pleasant than having to take one's own sweet time, at the end of a long and tedious journey, and swimming slowly across the winding areas that lead out of the outskirts into Liberty Lake, then having the pleasure to see Fairhaven (Fairhaven!) show its landscape in the distance. I stopped many times to marvel at it.
I nearly broke down crying when I reached the Stables at last! Few Homins there, but a few Trykers greeted me with kind words. Mermaidia came to welcome me as well. It took me about a half-day to realize I was there, in Fairhaven at last.
(( took about 5 hours total, and every minute of it, once I got past Virginia Falls, was a blast! Plus my first boss with that toon!
