I used to play an undead lvl55 warlock and an undead lvl 62 rogue.

i really liked the game though, it just became unplayable due to lagg(400ms+).

Where are the game servers? If I am in South Australia will i suffer same lag problem?
Not actually sure if you mean Ryzom here, or WoW. But as for Ryzom, currently the Game Servers are in Frankfurth Germany and able to tell are top notch tech. ;) Lag issues may occur by fault of you local provider too.
That is a thing many Palyers strangely seldom consider.
And IF you are on the other side of the globe, then OK, there might just be a bit of lag. Although I too know Australian Players, that do not have these problems. Are you in the Outback maybe ;) :D
Can you tell me what i can expect to be different in terms of game mechanics?
for example....can i stealth, pickpoket and ambush type thing?
As Kommisar allready explained, there is no such thing as pickpocketing, or a toon-learnable skill for stalth. Sneaking is what I like to revere to as a "Player Sill", learn to use the environmant and the Mob movements to your advantage. ;)
are the motion controls the same?
can i click to point and get my toon to run/walk to my target?
Same as WoW? Almost, yes.
No point and click though. Luckily :)
InGame you´ll be able to set you prefered keys for movement. WASD, or the arrow keys or others, just as you like it. Or you may use the mouse, click both and run. ;)
do mobs aggro? if so do they change this behaviours as you lvl?
Of couese some Mobs are aggro, others are not.
And nope, they´re always aggro, no "I´m level 10 now, so lvl 2 Mobs will ignore me" here. And that´s good IMHO ;)
can i do professions? etc etc.
You can learn every skill there is in the skill tree you´ve allready discovered. ;)
will i get washed away by a flash flood?
If you live in an area that´s prone to flooding and with the Hurricane season just now hitting the states... I hope NOT ;) *gg*
No, sorry. INGAME the weather is just for nice effects and has no real bearing on your Charakter. It does have influence on Prospecting though in the higher level regions ;) Come in and find out :D
or will i get knocked out by hail?
I don´t know if there is any MMO that can do this, but it would be a funny detail :D Nope, if it hails it´s just pixels ;)
does the ground fall away near cliff sides?
The ground does, you won´t.
No falling down here. Wich is a mixed blessing much dicussed allready.
We´re used to it ;)
if im injured are my stats affected?
That depends, some attacks can slow you down or stun or do other things to your character, but the general stats are not affected.
can pickpoket mobs?
Since when do Mobs have pockets? Oo
If you mean looting, of course you can. Kommisar explained allready :)
can you enchant weapons?
Yes, by placing a crytalized spell on them, and powering it with "Sap-Crystals".
sorry if it seems benial, but the download has taken about 3hrs sofar and im itching to test it out.
Have Fun and welcome to Atys ;)

Just a question, I've read somewhere here on this BBS that the free month CD key that comes with the old retail box is useless for trial accounts, right? So zoriel and I won't be able to add the free month to our current trial account even if we start paying a monthly subscription, right?

We will be forced to cancel the current account and start a new regular account to take advantage of the free month ...
I just added my Box Code to my Account and it worked perfectly Fine.
But you need to use all Capital Letters. When i typed it in lower Case, it didnt work ;)
