Neutered players ? Ouch. Did it leave a scar ?

Tho in many a sense, that's what the post faction game mechanics have done.

Hmm exactly when did neutrals lose their Tps to the PR and 250 regions? Was it within the 1st 6 months of the game? Was it the same time jewels were given protections and resists? Was it when jewels and LA got level requirements?

Aye there is a little trend in those questions... they all are fixes to things in the game that wasnt right in the launch. Some might say neutrals losing their tps hurt the game, but in my eyes it was a fix... the only reason neutrals have any tps is a way the higher powers are trying to express their greatness to those that dont follow them (hence bribing). But that is just my view on things... and sorry for the off topic post but just felt like i needed to get that off my chest.

actually i agree with you on this Bisk. it makes the most sense to me too. _BUT_ it would have an actual "point" if the story of Atys was a -real- part of the way we play. as it is now, i don't see ma-duk or jena-duk coming down at any point soon.. or not soon.. or in 3 years from now. so if the gods actually made their presence and stopped lolly-gagging, this would be an argument worth arguing over.

*hint for another life-changing event* *COUGH!*

---

so theoretically speaking, seeing as how obviuosly the majority of voters wanna fight a common threat - the kitin - what if homins were to get together and build at least the basis for such an event in the ring, in essence do all the work for the (nonexistent?) devs, and _THEN_ would we get an event? not sure there'd be a point in it but hey - maybe something would actually happen... (then again if i personally knew how the event would unfold i wouldnt wanna be a part of it :p )

It was right before we lost half our player base.

In your opinion,....
they all are fixes to things in the game that wasnt right in the launch
....but obviously all the people who left did not agree with you. I am not saying they are right and you are wrong. I am saying that a middle ground can exist where both groups are heppy.

If we take some relevance from human history or the sci-fi / fantasy genre, since when have the churches, cults whatever denied their support to "non believers" who fought beside them ? If ridding Atys of kitins is their goal, they have a vested interest in helping people with the same goal. Rome used their "barbarians", the crusades included their mercenaries .... all were provided support and reward by those who engaged them.

If ya wanna take the RP angle, then how the heck can a kara player dig at all ? Among the many inconsistencies in the lore, that stands out as the largest. Shouldn't the kami be more tolerant of their worshippers than the so called "defilers" ? Isn't it called "kami tolerance" ? Just like Tryton was created as a weak attempt to balance the simple 1 versus 1 faction conflict.

The kami goal is to stop kitin, the karavan goal is to stop kitin. Denying homins who don't worship them the tools they need to do that is something too foolish for any intelligent creature who purports to claim the role of deity. Tyring to make sense of it based upon the so called "lore" ineptly fabricated to dispel these inconsistencies doesn't work. It's just too far fetched to have any basis in logical thinking.

It sounds like a Monty Python sketch of the Crusades.

"Ah...where ya going ?"

"I am going to deliver food and weapons to the mercenaries we hired"

"No you're not. Those weapons are not for heathens !"

"well what are they going to fight with at the battle next week"

"they can use sticks and rocks"

"against armored soldiers ? ... and how they gonna march the 100 miles without food and water"

"Let them pray to their gods to provide it".

"But we have to cross a desert"

That 78% and 71 % number speaks volumes, and this despite the disproportinate representation here in the forums. The lore is a construct, reality is much simpler. That part of the player base which is "effectively neutered" simply will not stay subscribed. We have seen the success of the 1st "construct". The game can continue to support the segment of the playing public which is being very genrously estimated at 300 peeps on this server ATM or go for a wider auduence. The "construct" can evolve along the lines of the established lore and reunite atys to fight kitin. Don't alienate a large portion of the audience and give them the big claim to fame that was the big "fanfare" when Ryzom was being developed (RAID engine) and maybe ya have a shot at being viable.

Let a person earn kara fame = 100 .... let a person earn kami fame = 100
But also let a neutral earn 50 and 50. What ya get from 100 doesn't have to be the same as 50+50 but it should be equivalent. Even make it so that the 50/50s only get a half tp ticket in an area and you had to combine both a kami half and a kara half to craft a working TP....and when ya done, ya dont know which of the two yu gonna wind up with.

going seriously off topic here but..

O.o? thats one creepy idea.. technicalities? i agree its interesting - lore wise i can't see the duks divine aid intermixing. 'modified' karavan bits with 'purified' kami bits? sounds like a hybrid mix of doom if you ask me.. don't think it fits in with the lore.

**EDIT** start a new thread for this someone and we can start off where bisk left off.. interesting debate here methinks :p

As far as events I would like to see. I'd like to see events that hearken back to the old lore but drive the story forward. I'd really like to see something that makes the races important. I would love to see us being able to turn in mats like in the temple event to the capital cities in order so that we could get new racial patterns or bonuses to existing patterns that only citizens could learn to make.

As for the off topic stuff, the thread on the place for factionless would be a good place to talk about the place for factionless. However I suspect we are going back to the grimjim days and every thread will soon be about neutrality.

Voted for everything except the "Pure" options - The best events are not pure RP/PvP/PvE ones, but events that combine two or more of those. :)
calel wrote:Racial conflict.

It's about time the current stale state of the different nations changes. All the races have reasons to distrust one another; atrocities commited in the past, long lasting wars and opression, deep-rooted vendettas. It's a certain fact Hominity has lost most of it's collective memory and past, so forgetting the mistakes made in the past seems all to obvious while the racial traits still persist.

We've gotten to known the old enemy, the Kitin; we have felt the pressure of the current religious powers during the Temple building, but the 'cold war' state between the nations still needs to be played out.

Give more meaning to the currently bland cultures.
Make them live.
I agree and I'll raise you "Tribal conflict".

It's about time those tribes let their influence reach out of their camps. I believe originally the idea was that the tribes were groups of homins who split off from the 4 major civilizations and now compete with them over the control of the regions. That all tribes would have their own ideologies and agendas that can easily conflict with those of other tribes or nations. And with almost 50 tribes there's endless room for conflicts.

The nations' cultures are currently bland, the tribes' are almost completely obscure. There's been snippits of information about some of them in the chronicles, but ingame we've only seen the Black Circle play a small role in some events. Who really knows what the Barkers stand for? The Firebrands? The Leviers? The Tutors? We know nothing about them but what we can guess from their names.

Make them come out of hiding and let them play their part.

on a side note to the original topic, I'm open to idea's IG for player led events.

if you have an idea but not the will to run it let me know and I might try myself.

(note: no I wont run a PvP tournament)
