As Kyerna I'm torn between the 'they smell (funny)' and the 'lovely to kill' option.
Or maybe the non-existant 'they make perfect marks and have no sense of commerce'. But maybe that's just because she's a Tryker hard-liner and distrusts and generalises on most Matis and their bloody heritage.
As a player I find the Matis to be one of the most interesting RP choices if it weren't for the Trykers. iwojimmy made a pretty clear picture of how I see them as well. Conceit, arrogance, self-centered, lack of empathy, no regard for others as long as it furthers their own gain. King Yrkanis may be a moderate absolutist, but old habits die hard. I'm sure his court is filled to the brim with noble houses biding their time, plotting, waiting for him to slip up and pick up the reigns of power themselves and re-establish the glory of the Old Matian Empire, no matter the cost.

To me the Matis are the least frightening of all the "Big People". They may be a little stiff, but a little Tryker wine loosens them right up. They definitely need Trykers around to keep things fun, but we're not putting up with any "slavery" business, that's for sure.
Zoraï are the scariest, mostly because they wear scary masks and because I have to crane my neck so far back to look them in the eye. Those are eyes, right?
Fyros seem to just be grumpy about something. I don't know why, they are the ones with a hot tub. But when I threw a hot tub party no Fyros showed up.

We had four naked women there, and still no cute Fyros guys showed up. Or not-so-cute ones, either...

At least it is useful ! What's the use of that throne room in Yrkanis ? (The king must have a really tiny backside to be able to sit in that thing btw..no offense

)

Beau
They would sacrifice the environment in the name of progress and to achieve their goals, (pretty much like the fyros but with slightly more class

), conceited, arrogant, self centered (again not much different from the fyros). Far as looks go i like them best, trykers look too much like children, fyros look like neanderthals, zorais are freaky (talking of male chars only btw).
Also i think each of the four races mirrors real world civilizations but talking about that is a potential can of worms so i'll stop here
