Indeed. I want to see that! Interesting RP can happen when one doesn't try to shield their character from situations they would find undesirable.

I don't mean to disregard your concerns Biskibis, but in all other aspects Thesos is the most ideal location.

Not to throw a wrench in the works, but Jen-Lai is promising in a bunch of ways too. There is Zora right there, I made an alt and ran him down to Jen Lai in a few minutes, and there are mobs surrounding the area of lower level, in case of players like me that make brand new alts.
My ideal situation is everyone making brand new alts, with brand new stories. We could be a branch of traders, or of nomads.
I thought it was be awesome to even "pull out of a hat" random happenings, for example, a lightning storm destroys some of our suppliers and a group of us have to venture out and locate him/her. A homin could volunteer to stay stranded out in the wilderness, as others search for him/her with nothing but an idea of their whereabouts.
If no one is objected, I am going to work up a "mission statement" to sum up what we are trying to do.

Two cities, seperated by a vast dangerous distance. That's kind of cool. We could have one group of us in Thesos, and another in Jenlai, the Zora town. Here is a quick map just so you can have a mental picture of the idea:

We could say that we are a very exclusive group, our that our two groups need to trade certain items ONLY between each other. For example, a rare wine from Thesos in exchange for the rare mat in Jenlai. Once a week we could gather our strength and attempt a trek to the other city, and the next week the reverse.
I'm not to keen on making sure that it fits perfectly into exact Lore. Just like with our own world, there is lore and then there is NEW lore. We cannot wait for Gameforge to release new lore, we can make it ourselves.
I would also like to have these groups remain neutral, at least within the group/s themselves. We will have nothing to do with the factions. There are christians and muslims in RL, but I am not part of either group. Same thing can happen here. Of course, Homins that ARE part of either Kami or Karavan are welcome and can act how they want, and even some of our very own group can be tempted by either side.

PS: Here is that lil rough map if someone needs it. So you wont have to go through the trouble of clipping it yourself.

I'd suggest you figure out what you want to do, then just state it. The quoted statement just made sure I will not be participating.

My idea is to have a brand new group of Homins, alts maybe. They would be neutral, or at least to the point of not dabbling in OP's and stuff like that. I don't know how to say it without using examples, so it would be like how I play my main: I log in, answer 6 billion IM"s, play around in my apartment, maybe go level a little, talk to wandering Homins, help some noobies, and just overall mess around. It sound boring, but it's filled with activity.
In my play sessions I come across and sometimes group with Homins from either faction, but other than that I have nothing to do with them. I would like this little, fun, exciting town experiment to be free of either Kami/Karavan influence. That is NOT to say that other Homins, such as someone's main that IS loyal to either side would be shunned by us. Not at all. I don't care if someone came to the city and tried to recruit. As long as it was done IC.
If I offended you because I said Christians and Muslims, that was just an example of two religions that I do not participate in. Sorry if it was taken badly.
If I offended you because I said that I would RATHER us not have anything to do with either faction, then I'm not sure what to say. I don't have anything to do with them anyway. Heck, most Homins I could almost guarantee do not care about the Factions they are part of. They just happen to be in a guild that went either way. Heck, most players don't read this forum.
So please, understand, that I meant no harm. I simply want to steer clear of the factional stuff. If it is too much of an issue, that we can change that.
Beau

PS: And understand that I do not consider this "my project" or my idea. This is just something I thought would be fun to try, if Homins get behind it. It would definitely take some work, but I can provide a website )if needs be) a forum (got one), announcements on the podcast, and help with getting the word out. I think we are ALL just waiting on a great event or thing to happen, so I am going to try to whip this into a more cohesive idea.

Actually it has more to do with limitations, expectations, etc...

The idea that interested me was a role play city. An area where I could go to role-play MY character and someone else could role play THEIR character.

For me it was not so important to even have a set time, just a place. A place that I know when I am there I should close down the real life IM chats and just be my character. And that there is a good chances that if I choose to interact with someone in that area they will be "in Atys" as well. That is what attracted me to the idea, not gaining new friends and creating alts, but being Pero.

Even still, we could use the southern part of Pyr. It's usually pretty empty (not much reason to hang out in the south of Pyr), if people do not like the idea of using matis lands.

/agree

The trekking mats and stuff is a good idea don't get me wrong, but the aspect of this RP project that interested me is exaclty what Pero said. Tp to Thesos, wave at all the different characters there, talk about the latest gossips, have a drink, laugh at the drunk people, get in a bar brawl...Have fun but at the same time take a break from the every day grinding, running around atys 24/7... :)

My initial reaction to the OP was very negative, because it might suggest that there's a right time and place for roleplaying :( .

Roleplay ought to be the default in a rpg, but ... reality is different and people like to play as they like in a game - as, on the whole, we've a right to as subscribers. As an initiative to encourage, or allow, people to play exclusively in character, I think it's a good idea. Thesos, Natae or Davae, and Jen-Lai are all pretty handy places for people to get to regardless of faction. I think Windermeer or Crystabell would not be so bad either.

Edit: I forgot Destiny's End! No bar there, nor any NPCs or much else, but a great name, and a region which deserved mention (Nexus / Roots).

I heard there's some grumpy old geezer in Thesos who hates having cheerful homins around. Hee hee! Sounds like a great chance to go stick my cheerful Trykerette tongue out at somebody. :)

A little bird also told me there might be Packer caravans traveling about, hauling odds and ends from one place to another. My old dad was a great explorer and trader (or at least I thought he was great, I was young at the time) and I've always wanted to follow in those footsteps. Except for the part where he disappeared. I still don't believe a Kincher got him, but that's what "they" say.

Anyway, I don't think I'm one to just settle down in one location, or stick to any set schedules. If I hear rumors of something going on, I'm pretty likely to show up, though. Any land works for me, they are all beautiful in their own way.

I just hope nobody gets cranky about my "What Would Jena Do" tattoo. It's not likely to wash off any time soon. But I guess as long as I don't wear my Matis Medium Armor nobody will see it anyway... ;)
