I am also sad to see you go. Maybe you will come back another time. If so we will have a warm fire and and a fresh brew of some strange sounding ale waiting for you.

As I said, this is speculation, but there is more to be gained for Gameforge from opening up the game to the Korean market than there is to keeping two english servers when both have dwindling populations.
Exactly what I've been thinking. Keeping Cho as it is
and adding a new language server would probably not be a good idea. So, they merge Cho's current populace into Arispotle and they stand to transform the existing extra server into something more self-sustaining.

Which would be fair enough but then I'm not leaving because or with any dislike of GameForge. I'm leaving because I don't want to play on Aripostle and while there are a few people that might stay playing that I will miss from Cho, my guild will move game with me so the most important people to me will still be where ever I go

A new community... is that a different community? Will it mean that Ryzom launches in another language or the new server will have a a different ruleset (like no PVP). To just make another Cho seems pointless.
Full PvP server, do that and il bring a community

The financial survival of Ryzom surely played a large part in their choice to merge Cho into Arispotle. The game isn't over unless you decide it is over for you. But in doing so you also decide it's over for the people who stay or leave based on what the other members of their community do. I am sincerely saddened that some of you have promptly decided to drop everything and reduce your community. I would've welcomed seeing you stay and become part of Arispotle.
Welll said. Personally I look forward to seeing all our Cho cousins on Ari soon, But I also believe that rebranding Cho as a server in another language is a wise move on their part. I will not dismiss Cho's existing community and ideals, but a second english (primarily) server was never the greatest idea.
I think there are a lot of non-english, french or german speaking players that are staying only for a very short time because of their language barriers, and I have made the point in Uni chat before - what is being done for the recent inlfux of Polish players who speak almost no english? (and yes - to whoever kept repeating it in Uni at me - I know they learn it at school, but I learnt german at school and there is no way I would survive on a german server). I doubt however that the new server will be Polish tho
Anyway, Ffi is looking forward to meeting you all soon - those who decide to stay - both of you

To continue where blaah left off
[22:14] Souls_666> For increasing the profits: do you plan to open new game servers for spanish or chinese speaking players ? Or to reduce the costs: do you think of merging all the servers in one ?
[22:16] Phelan> yep, we plan other languages, spanish and italian are on the top of the list, china is difficult as they have no propper means to pay, korea is a hot candidate too
[22:16] Phelan> and merging servers... that is a hard task
[22:16] Phelan> i dont think that the effort there will justify the savings

last line does not mean Cho. it means merging _all servers_.
