Actually, there is a problem there. :(

A "good crafter" is not necessarily a high-level crafter. Currently, a crafter's skill level only determines the max quality they can craft, how many plans they've been able to collect, and whether they can get medium or high plans. The most important aspects of crafting that determine whether a crafter is good are the player's knowledge: experimentation = familiarity with materials = recipes to achieve desired stats. Therefore, crafters of all levels can be useful.

If even moderately useful mission-reward-items were introduced, suddenly there will be areas of quality where crafters of the corresponding level are moderately useless. Some people will prefer to obtain their gear via the easy solo mission method instead of relying on fellow players. Suddenly, the game may support a mentality of "other players aren't necessary to my gameplay, so I don't need to treat them nicely."

The more I think about all this and the more ugly hints Gameforge drops, the more I agree with those who are saying Gameforge should just complete and add more encyclopedia rites. I haven't done many rites myself, but it seems from what I've seen and heard that it's a perfect system: no pseudo-heroic pretenses, and benign yet interesting rewards of lore, stanzas, stat boosts, and crafting plans.

QFE!!!

Couldnt agree more, im afraid my hard aquired crafting skill of lvl 147 (i hate diggin :D ) will become obsolete to the new players who atm love my swords :p At least now i have some meaning with this low crafting skill, if they implent it as i am afraid for i will be of no use.

Right now nothing has changed since my IRC interview a while back.

The biggest project that will shortly be released is a new installer and a smaller client for the Ruins of Silan. As you know it already, the next new things to come are the range combat and 1H melee skills revamp, along with low level missions. We also started to create new looks for melee weapons in order to prepare rewards for future missions on the long term (that wouldn't be harming the crafting balance).

We are interested not in short term profits but long lasting success. The problem right now is really that you don't see anything happening, I know this is frustrating. But I assure you, the people here are not slacking around but working hard to improve Ryzom.

People, you did notice that he said "looks" not stats?
Did you actually read what he said???? Oo

You remember those Rewards for the Hack´n Slay of Episode 1?
Almost just looks, just a tiiiiny bit of better stats.
I think these new LOOKS will not harm anyone. And if people just go after looks, damnit it´s their own fault.

I remember a LOT of cries for new looks on wapons and stuff.
Now they come and everyone goes rabid about it.
He did not even say a thing about HOW they will be implemented.
Maybe like the Armor Plans form the new bosses?
Maybe as whole plans as a Mission reward, to self-craft!?

DO you always havt to assume the worst possible outcome?
Is it cool to whine about everything?
Is it a sign of greatness to assume the worst and completely derail what someone said?

Sorry for the rant but sometimes I just don´t get you lot.

And if you think I´m rude in pointing out your dumbness on this one.
Sue me!

Problem is that he gives a little bit of information without thinking about what possible reactions will evovle from that.
We also started to create new looks for melee weapons in order to prepare rewards for future missions on the long term (that wouldn't be harming the crafting balance).

Leaves every option open to worry about imho.

But seems GF isnt that good in being open about their ideas, seeing this is the first little bit of info we get since the famous irc chat.

I trust them myself. GF has been quite great after they took Ryzom over. They are clearly doing development and they have also said what they are going to work on. There are few feedback threads they also started asking for opinions. All looks like that they really care about what players think and want to also hear that. For me it looks like that they really care about Ryzom in long run and want to make it a profitable game which also merits us all. They get profit and we get a nice game to play.

I also like the fact that Phelan said earlier that he they won't be giving any false promises about what there is to come and only says what they are actually going to work on. Let them work in peace and think well how they will do their development, I for myself don't want to see any rushed changes to game that haven't been well thought out.

You mean the hand in tokens for bigger tokens for bigger tokens for really big tokens and get a weapon event? ;-)

They are actually a lot better stats, and didn’t look any different I think – at least the daggers weren’t. There wasn’t a huge amount of complaining because they were very hard to get – you had to put in a lot of time over the event to earn enough to get one, even the crazy people who don’t sleep didn’t get more than 2 or 3, so they never made an impact in the larger market with most sitting in apartments for special occasions. They were also q200 so most of us that did get outgrew them.

I think people have every right to ask for clarification, which is all we are doing.. Very valid points have been raised, esp the recent Silan experience which does everything possible to put people off crafting and harvesting imo. The time of unquestioning devotion to Ryzom is well and truly over I’m afraid. The way information is given out is causing alarm, maybe its more clear in your community but that is no reason to come here and shout at us.

The devs at Nevrax gave you Silan and its associated rewards - hopefully they've learnt from that, we'll just have to see. If they do something and it turns out that they haven't then I'll be right here beside you complaining :p

for jenas sake ppl, give them a chance to work, they have told us what they wish to achieve, play the game take it as it comes. The more they tell you the more you speculate and cry foul/nice.

I dont expect to see much soon and there is plenty for me to achieve in game yet without worrying about what the future holds.

*wishes for a good ol PvP thread to distract from the "bad/good feedback" threads and the "give me info or I will starve" threads.
