well Good Buy Ryzom and welcome WoW then
hmm what do you consider Ganking lexius? killing a digger in the PR? going to a OP battle when the numbers are 3 to 1? when a group of taged players attack you when you are by yourself?

well maybe they are ganking.... but so be it, it is part of every game that has a PvP element in it. the one to avoid such actions is to ally yourself with friends and guildies that will suppourt and fight with you. and also to relize we all are gonna get our butts handed to us now and a then, if someone cant handle it then they shouldnt be particpating in any form of PvP (that includes entering the Lands of Umbra).

in the end i think the ideas of bountys on people will make the game intresting, will make us think twice about what bridges we may burn and people we screw over.

I guess as I was the first to mention ganking, maybe I should elaborate on what I mean.

Yes of course it is a PvP game, but in my opinion, PvP should take place between people, not third parties, using an anonymus "assassin" strategy.

Some lamer gets their ass handed to them in PvP, so he goes to the biggest kid in the playground and bribes him to get his revenge by proxy.

It just saddens me somewhat to see something like this in Ryzom from a community point of view.

Anyway, sorry for hijackin the thread a bit, if needs be Ill delete the replies I made. :)

Ahh I see your point Valda.
btw, this is Sun Ce, not Equlibrium.
But tbh I dont agree with you on it.
Its more like. I personally like not knowing if I have a person specifically looking for me. I think the exitement of NOT knowing if a person I duel actually gains something from it.

I like not knowing if a person who kills me in PR is there for a reason, ME, or just there to kill a PR digger.

It gives a certain touch to the fact of being killed.

(this is from a VICTIM's point of view.)

Hmmm, I think (correct me if I'm wrong here) that what is suggested here is almost identical to the current "bounty hunter" event that Sunce did, but instead of set bounties on these boards, its handled on other boards / ingame. The PvP "hunting" is still done by the same players and since you always have to consent to pvp in this game, the people getting killed are probably going to be the same anyway.

As far as I know the current bounty hunter event didn't create any "ganking" and I haven't heard of anyone who took part and didn't enjoy it - this kinda thing isn't something that i'd go in for, but if the people its aimed at enjoy it I don't personally forsee any problems that couldn't be solved by our great community :p

Not getting involved in your debate, but talk about poor sentences :o

I think its a nice idea, was waiting for all the people against it to start moaning about it first but as an idea it gives people who enjoy PvP something to do when they have sevral lvl 250s.

I agree with all of that, my favourite game after Ryzom is Lineage, I'm just afraid that it will promote a community, where lamers can get redress with money instead of skills :)

Anyway sorry for any misundestanding :)

In every game I've played (that has PvP) there have been paid "hits". As long as the "hitmen" aren't breaking any rules, then there is nothing wrong with setting this event up. If anything, it gives some kind of structure to the chaos that can be PvP.
And if there's one community I trust that can handle self-imposed PvP kill rules it's THIS community.
When I was running around with the bride Wandaxia during the "Rescue the Bride" event, there were no RULES that I couldn't be touched. I mean, I was red to everyone like everyone else. It was simply players wills that kept me from dying, and nothing else. In any other game I have played I would have been killed over and over.
I am reading up on this event, and wish I had the skills to be a hunter, I think it would be exciting!
Plus, who wouldn't want to see that they have a HUGE bounty on thier head? That'd be awesome.
