Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

I have been in several MMOs, and I have never seen a MMO where so many people were hostile to all change as in "Saga of Ryzom".

Such players remind me of the Tory MPs in 19th century England that I am reading about currently (in a book on the history of 19th century Europe), who were hostile to ALL change, no matter how beneficial.

One great thing about the innate conservatism of the Ryzom player base is that Gameforge will never dare attempt a radical dumbing down of Ryzom, comparable to the dumbing down of SWG done by SOE.

There would be an apocalyptic player revolt in Ryzom that would make the players' revolt against the SWG changes (CU = "Combat Upgrade", NGE = "New Game Enhancements") seem minor.

In SWG we found out the hard way that when the player base asks for too many changes, and these changes are added to the game in a careless manner by the Devs, some very critical problems and imbalances result.

The SWG Devs' habit of swinging the "Nerf Bat" every time someone complained that an SWG profession was over- or under-powered was an especially bad situation that in the end ruined SWG, led to the CU and the NGE, and then to the mass player exodus from SWG.

"Where no change is needed, there is no need to change" -- was said by a British political scientist (I forget who), it is a very sensible attitude I believe, for both real life and in MMOs.
