In your Ryzom program folder (defaults to 'C:\Program Files\Ryzom' if I recall correctly), there is a file named: 'client_default.cfg'. Open this file with Notepad for example and press Ctrl+F to search for the string 'StartupHost', without the quotes. Verify/edit this line to read:
StartupHost = "rslogin.juk.shards.nevrax.com:40916";
Whee you are so right! That fixed it for me instantly!! *hugs*
My old pc died right before new years...finally got a new pc and both downloaded the client and also moved files from my old "My Documents" game folders from the old pc to the new one. In the end I found I had 2 ryzom installer executables both named the same thing...one downloaded and one moved. I probably picked the month old moved one to use and it had the old data in it.
I was so sad after a month away that I couldn't play on the new box... Thank you tursas!!!!

Woo, that worked.
Next job for Ryzom, inc: make a setup that already has this.

other domain game connects at startup is crashcounter.nevrax.com (first thing in log.log) , which also points to old ? address and thats the other reason it takes time to load.
ban it in firewall for now... i did
QFE. This has fixed complete non-load problems that don't give an err1 message - block it if you have any problems

Error Code 1 - no connection to the login server
- check firewall settings and ensure the game ports are allowed through
- can also happen when there are network problems along the path, so check local network and try doing a ping plot or tracert to 213.208.119.98

That IP is an old one. Ping or trace should be pointed at the host name alias rslogin.juk.shards.nevrax.com which currently resolves to 83.141.21.136.

I added the new server into the config file and it worked perfectly. I've got dmz on my computer though with a firewall as the backup.

timeframe "for now" is come and gone. they finally changed ip in dns which points it to reachable ip (87.106.16.2).
it's not high priority, but if you all get time, remove it from firewall.
GF, think if it's (crashcounter.nevrax.com) really is neccessary and not some thing left in from beta or from alpha
and another thing GF... ryzom_recover.exe does not work as it searches stuff from Jolt's network. there is backups ip's ofcourse, but those dont respond either
edit: ok.. posted too fast
... it starts downloading after long timeout (213.208.119.0/24 and 130.117.80.6 ip's are failing), then it moves to right host (recover.ryzom.com)
