The thing is this: Ryzom canot afford the Jolt support. Jolt has done fantastic support, that's without question. However when forced to choose between cutting funds on an external supporter or on internal devs, then option one is more sensible.

I also hope that many GMs will continue working for GF, for this we will start an appeal. This step wasn't easy for us, but we did not see a way around it, if we want to keep ryzom alive.

We do not want to break the game by saving cash everywhere, but some cuts are necessary. There are reasons why Nevrax failed.

@ MMO/MMORPG hmmm... i don't know where i used any of those terms.. when klaas is talking about us running MMOs, then that's correct, because MMORPGs are a sub-part of the term MMO...

greetings,
phelan
events are an important part of the game, of course we want to keep those. (economically speaking: player-mader events are free content for the game, why would we want to lose that?)

and volunteers: ofc we want to have those. nobody knows the game as well as the players.
do these plans include a further use of volunteers, supported by the developers?
yes.

it's uderstandable that you distrust us. but to make a game worse, we're not completely retarded. what's going to be different is that we won't announce projects we can't complete. a lot happened hee in the past that was not ok. things were promised, announced, that were unrealistic. nevrax is not entirely at fault, they needed t convince the investors day for day to provide money.

paid support:
billing suport is still inhouse and we have six workers who do general support. that starts with community management and stops with testing.

the event team was dissolved because the event manager works with jolt and we wanted a clean cut. we will rebuild the event teams.
they're not perfec translations, as i did them as fast as possible, but the content is retained.

keep in mind that not all csr teams worked as well as the english one. i for one can understand the decisions, even if i do dislike them.

Ok. Sorry, the Subject of this Thread was not as good an eyecatcher as the German Topic.
First of all: I am sorry as well, that we have to leave Jolt. The thing is rather simple: Ryzom cannot afford the Jolt support. The did an excellent Job there.

The news about the maintenance.. well up till saturday we weren't sure if we would move the servers or not. Saturday the deal was closed, new hardware, more bandwith. We have of course tested before, and all went well, so we could move.

edit: Thanks xeno!

If I read it correctly, they are going to ask for volunteers to provide support?

Is there going to be some kind of assessment system before some one is allowed to join the volunteer team? After all the Jolt CSRs were invited so the filtering was done that way. I wouldn't want to see a system where just anybody had the powers of a GM.

I hope they do rebuild the events team because it would be a mistake to ditch events altogether. Given the number of "when are we going to have another/more events" posts, GF should consider this a priority.

Ok, I can understand it too. Let's see: This games, as it was, isn't affordable. A game, for work, has to give money, and Ryzom don't give it. So, there are neded changes for this to continue.

-Make the hosting cheaper when you have your own hosting infraestructure: Good, very good. I have a little more ping, only because there are more miles between me and the servers. But the game runs smooth. And, in the last times, the server has been having a lot of crashes. Let's see how the GF hosting is.

-Choice between Devs and CRSs: Choice Devs.Of course. Make your own CSR team, probably cheaper (Because you hire your own people, and GF have people in). Let's see how the new CSRs are; then, we can yell if they are worst. HAve very high the mark, but we can't speak before see.

-Communication: Very bad, this knid of things will be know, and is better if they are know through an official statement. And very good, in their idea of not announce unrealizable projects.

-Even teams: They will rebuild. Same that before: let's see if they can do as good as the last team. Then, we can yell or not. But, a little advice, GF: The evenst are a *very important part* of the game experience. Dont put it apart.

Can I ask some simple questions then :)

1) you plan to set up a similar system with paid SGM and volunteer others as we have now? If not what..
2) keeping 24hr CSR on Aris?
3) You are going to rebuild the events team so the quote says, what happens to all the plot lines currently active that the old events team have been responsible for?
4) You plan to continue with CSR having a presence on Atys, or just answering of tickets?
5) A big feature of Ryzom has been the large scale week++ long events, such as the temple wars. Are you planning on keeping these kind of things going?

And more generally, you’ve had over a month now. How about some statement or Klients chat about how you see the future – are you keeping the ring under development, the kitin lair, planning to merge the shards into one? Lots of things that really we would like reassurance about one way or the other..
