Idea for game money sink
Re: Idea for game money sink
More ideas on that.. the economy of the game is one of our biggest construction sites.. however, one that needs a lot of thinking..

What about people who go on holiday/take a break from the game? I agree on making OPs cost money, or extra GHs or appts, and definately agree with putting a price on people storing mats on merchants, but the basic appartment (and imo GH but definately appt) should be a one-time fee only.xzizoux wrote:for example:

Indeed. What folks forget is although many of us are crafters and have obscene amounts of money already, money sinks that would be effective to us could very well be game breaking for non crafters and new players. And on the flip side a money sink that would affect non crafters and newbies would probably be laughable to us master foragers and crafters - thus creating a class of haves and a class of have nots. This would effectively force people into digging / crafting in order to "pay the rent", anything that forces people into doing something makes for bad gameplay IMHO.Phelan wrote:More ideas on that.. the economy of the game is one of our biggest construction sites.. however, one that needs a lot of thinking..
My thoughts would be a stepped increase in TP costs (based on zone level) double the costs of the current DP removal services, then very very carefully assess the impact of charging rent/maint on GH/appts along with providing other money sink services. One must remember the poor newbie or lazy (mat buying) crafter that goes on vacation or for some reason or another cannot log in for a few weeks, how would it feel to log on and have your apartment full of cherished relics of days gone past dissappear because the real world interfered with your gaming?

I agree to some extent with these worries, but I would hope that any unmet charges for the apartment/guild hall rental would just lead to access to the facilities being denied, until you pay upnaratuul wrote:Indeed. I would also hope that the first apartment is rent free (or just a peppercorn rent).
Personally I think that making the TP tickets more expensive for higher level areas / PR is a good idea. I also think that the price for TP tickets should be proportional to the highest level of the homin concerned. Even at my lowish weapon crafting level (making q180 maces) I can still get enough dappers for three tickets per mace (using choice mats).

Re: Idea for game money sink
Perhaps the apartments could charge rent according to the amount of time spent online. If you are offline, there is no rent.
I don't like the idea of paying for dp removal. Yes, it would be convenient but would make dp completely meaningless to the very wealthy.
I don't like the idea of mats degrading. Many people like to keep all sorts of nice mats for testing recipes. People also collect mats for months to make the very best crafted item. If my supreme boss or dug mats degraded away, I would be extremely annoyed. Would you?
I think we need more luxury items that are money sinks. How about titles? Maybe the Karavan and Kami will sell the Kami/Karavan Champion title for $100M?
Or make up new titles.
Or $50M to put your guild's name on a prominent wall in the your capital city for a week?

I think it is "Breath of Ma-Duk" or something like that, if I remember correctly. Jena is the whore who's selling kisses.komissar wrote:Isn't it the same as the "Divine kiss of Ma-duk" with a black skull on it?

Well, I don't like the High TP being expensive, basically for 2 reasons:
- It will solve nothing. Ten dapper sinks like that will solve nothing. The problem isn't in the obvious (Lack of dapper sinks). The problem is in the lack of trade flow. The trade is the blood of the economy; there is no trade, there are no blood, then the economy is dead. Like in Atys.
- If you put very expensive TP tickets to lvl200-250 areas, then some young homins will not be able to reach there for events, battles and so on. And one of the things that keep players in game at the earliest levels is that kind of thing, the treks, the events they can join with the greats of Atys. So, please, don't limit more the young homins. It will solve nothing.
BTW, the materials degrade could be done by allowing that sups not degrade. This is coherent, after all they are supreme materials. But I agree that it will not be an accepted solution.
Another solution could be add an incentive to use the traders for sell. For a start:
Make a ranking of top-merchants. So everyone know who is the best trader of all. Maybe you can involve some titles here. Obviously sell excellent or supreme items will give more points in the rank than sell choice, bas, or fine.
The benefits could be improved fame with some factions, maybe better commercial consideration in all regions, and to the best merchants, sometimes the traders could sell some special mats (Like OP mats, larva, and that kind of things).

Please add new things, do not change the existing prices so it looks like something new. I think most players want new stuff even if most of the posters on this forum seem to just be asking for changes to the existing game.
I strongly recommend adding new things not shuffling in tweaks of the existing systems.
I also think one of the things that is getting lost is the fact that Homins are on the brink of extinction and are just a couple generations removed from owning only what could be carried by fleeing refugees.
Why would the economy be on the same level as other established and secure worlds? To many players expect life on Atys to be easy, friendly, safe and comfortable which in truth it is certainly becoming just that.
There is nothing wrong with the economy, players are dependent on friends and allies. Considering there are only a few thousand Homins left on the planet, that makes pretty good sense to me..
