You have some point there. Expansions means that when You buy it, it will expand You current game. This does happen with CoV and CoH too, but very little.

If You have CoH and them buy CoV. You CoH gets two small expansions.
- 4 more character slot (8+4)
- Access to supergroups bases.

Basicly sayed those are the expansions what You get. What is very little compared to what CoV other ways give. You can't use You old CoH side character as playing CoV, because they are allmost separated games, but very much a like. Basicly I think it's just way to get more money from players.

I agree. I'm not commenting on the quality of either games, i've played neither, actually i've heard they're quite good for more of a "casual" rpg. But i also think the term SEQUAL shouldnt really be used with it and i've seen them throw that term around when refering to CoV, lets just call it CoH 1.5 lol.

sofiaoak wrote:Actually CoH and CoV are both stand alone games. Means, You don't have to buy the other to play one of them.
okay but if you can access both from either of those "parts" then they should not both be listed.

Its quite common to sell part 1 with part 2 etc it is after all part and parcel of the programming. If they did that eq2 products should also be listed with its "parts" seperately after all I dont have to buy everything in order to access just that portion of the game.

You just validated the point of them not being stand alone in that they are each able to access the content of the other are you sure that is what you meant?

You can't access both from those two games. They are separated.

Example, You create CoH character. This CoH character can access ONLY CoH content. Same will happen if You create CoV character, only for CoV content. They are really very separated games, but very same kind. Even if CoV and CoH character can be in a few same zone. Those zones are there even if You have one of the game. Basicly those zones are there for PvP reasons.

I think that's why they don't really call them expansions, because they don't really expand the other game. Just give You new same kind of separated game with different style of content, with PvP connections between them.

Hard to explain..

By your logic then, DAoC could repackage their games a Realm of Midgard, Realm of Albion and Realm of Hibernia and you would consider them 3 different games. After all, you create a character in one realm, they basically hang out and do everything in that realm except for a few areas where they can pvp.

As for the ranking, I think Ryzom is a good game. However, I do feel like it would be easier to vote and recommend a game that I actually knew someone could play. Right now, new people are still stuck on the island. For a new player, the game is really just an extended demo, not an MMORPG.

That being only a temporary situation, I don't see any reason for it to be a factor.

Some people seem to be in a doom-and-gloom ship-jumping mindset, as if the current situation will never change, or will only result in Ryzom's end. Considering there are several buyers pursuing it, and there is optimism displayed by the official announcements and posts regarding the situation, mindsets along the lines of "the sky is falling" are unnecessary.

I dunno about others but I have been logging in and doing my "thing" my stuff is also selling so there are people playing. I was amazed though that my guild had no one logged on for a week now and I almost asked if anyone was there on the universal channel because when I logged in one day it was blank for over an hour hehe.

Anyhow I am yes presently soloing hehe cause there is no one around at all its strange i felt like I was playing an offline game last week. I have not had a chance to login this week but I will be this weekend (wonder what I will see)
