I love the long spawn time. Makes the killing feel more meaningful, like we are actually denting their numbers.
But I'm finding this thread amusing...people complaining that they can't do their usual grind and such crap? xD You probably grind too much anyway...

Re: Kitin Invasion
I like the spawn time too, I was in a team all the evening and we went from one region to another and killed the kitin in our path. Say for example when we got to GoC, we killed the kitin in 3 areas, and the first area would have respawned by that time. We didnt have a prob, although probs more than 3 good teams per region would suck it up a bit

Re: Kitin Invasion
I am not saying I am not, even though it is sometime hard to find a team nowadays with all those ppl grinding so i will answer this one by another question:chessack wrote:... what, exactly, is preventing you from doing this on other days? There have always been plenty of targets out there last I checked.
How many times in the last 6 months have you received a random invite (not from guild or from friends) atgates of the main city of your region from people feeling the urge to team and fight (run out to protect their lands).
This did happened to many within the first ten minutes i log at Yrk gate and that only made it worth it

However, I will submit the following comments.
1. I have not been playing yet for 6 months (close to 5 though).
2. I basically never, under any circumstances, in any online RPG including Ryzom, accept random invites to just go kill stuff. That's because
3. I find just going out killing random stuff to be boring, at least in large doses.
and
4. I am a roleplayer, and I have yet to get onto the random "pickup group" where one jot of roleplaying is actually done.
I am on a large, RP-oriented guild. I have no need of pickup groups. We go hunting every Sunday afternoon for several hours as a guild (and roleplay as we go). I therefore have no need of "kitin invasions" to go fight stuff -- I get my fill during our weekly hunts. The rest of the week I dig, craft, or roleplay with guild mates -- which are my favorite activities in the game.
So, this Kitin invasion provides little "value add" to my Ryzom experience, unless my guild decides to have a roleplay session (as opposed to a hunt session) about it. Otherwise it's just killing stuff... and it's not remarkably more interesting stuff than what's been there all along.
If there were some actual story to this other than "Go. Hunt. Kill Kitins." perhaps I would find it more intriguing. As it is... we did some tonight and I had a hard time finding it to be any different from our regular Sunday hunts, except that we were doing it on Tuesday.

- Lucky for you if you are in a self sufficient guild bit that kind of approach might make it difficult to make new friends and encounter new type of RP as you name it.
Now, knowing that we, homins, have been brought to this planet which was already controlled by the Kitins, if an invasion does not inspire you with roleplay, then I wonder what you mean by RP ...
Same thing for guildhunt: you really mean RP or you mean chat?
When I hunt I chat, might be IC, might be OOC but i have difficulty imagining what u mean by RP in hunt..
----------------
Edit: on another note, yes, some things could have been done better by Nevrax, things done by anyone could always have been done better and whatever is done, there will always been people who are not happy-complain.
That's for them to live with it: as I live with no PR tp's for example.
But again /Nevrax /Bow : they could have just poped pumpkins out and say "it's halloween" as most of us feared. No, they didn't, and as the majority has been asking, they come up with a little invasion which imo is nice and refreshing from grinding.
And for the sake of it, let's just say that this is the week of the 7 Sundays so u have even more opportunity to RP and can give ur pike a break

I help people regularly in universe. I make lots of friends that way.gillest wrote: - Lucky for you if you are in a self sufficient guild bit that kind of approach might make it difficult to make new friends and encounter new type of RP as you name it.
I did not say the invasion did not inspire RP. I said that I see nothing SPECIAL about it that inspired anything that was not already going on.Now, knowing that we, homins, have been brought to this planet which was already controlled by the Kitins, if an invasion does not inspire you with roleplay, then I wonder what you mean by RP ...
How, exactly, other than some very primitive emotes, would one roleplay if not using the chat system? So yes, I mean in character conversation.Same thing for guildhunt: you really mean RP or you mean chat?
Roleplay in hunt = in-character conversation about the hunt (or whatever else) during the hunt. When I hunt I chat, might be IC, might be OOC but i have difficulty imagining what u mean by RP in hunt..
It also means putting a premium on RP rather than speed-grinding. If we are killing things so fast that nobody even has time to type an IC comment into the interface, then something is wrong, and I am probably not having fun.
It happens sometimes even in an RP guild. I try to steer things toward more RP but if that doesn't happen, I make my excuses and log. I do not play Ryzom to grind. I play it to roleplay.

Re: Kitin Invasion
aye, that's what i call chat
I agree nothing as boring as a silent team, tho would you team "randomly" a little more, you might be pleasantly surprised..
Concerning the Invasion, if you cannot enjoy a little something that happen once every year at the best, don't waste your time looking at the sky for a potential comet, just keep grinding
I am maybe going a bit hard but if you played for 2 years, you might actually see why so many of us enjoy that break.

Almost time for this old man to sleep but must throw you a bone so I have something to look forward to...gillest wrote:Now, knowing that we, homins, have been brought to this planet which was already controlled by the Kitins, if an invasion does not inspire you with roleplay...
"Knowing that we" don't really know the whole story... I would give thought to other things heard whispering on the winds...
If this planet was terra formed to make it a safe place for homins to live when we were sent here, wouldn't we be the invaders in a sense ? And if the Kitin's only existance is an offshoot of this terraforming, how can we be interlopers. It's the "If a tree falls in the woods and nobody hears" principle...
It's like the homins that speak for the better treatment of Bodoc's in slaughter houses. Wild Bodoc's were once an aggro species domesticated over the years by our forefathers... would their species have survived if we had merely hunted them for their meat and not domesticated them for our uses ?

Sorry DT i don't do politics
Tho your idea maybe a good one, knowing that the land were owned before not by the Bodocs but by the Yubos...
Thinking about that, did you notice the yubo warpaints?
That really may be them that are driving the kitins to atk us...
We might find an Overlord Destroyer Yubo of Death in the Lair one day

Best to go in a team, they don't go down easy but they do go down, you need some effort from a team. Sometimes they swarm and you are overrun, so it's back to square one. The rewards are a bit silly and I do not care much for em but the hunting difficult things with some people and living after 12 come racing at your group of 4 is verry exciting
