Hmm odd I'm in yrkanis a lot and I never see anyone asking me, still most wouldn't know I wasnt a poverty stricken new player anyway.

At least it's not as bad as most other mmorpgs with constant beggars. personally I know its harsh but if I find someone annoying like that I'd like to see them shunned by all guilds for being lazy, ignorant and annoying till they got so lonely they quit.

But I'm a bad man.

I only had the occasion to meet up with 1 of those. I was looking into some matters of the Kami on Silan and poof there comes up the tellwindow asking me if I could craft a full armor set. And sinse I had the mats already and was planning on crafting a few low quality sets I did it there and gave one to her.

Later on she even insisted in that I had crafted her an helmet instead of a breastpiece, and that to know I only got light armor plans

For the rest I get everything what I need, and sometimes even more, from my guild. Only have to beg for a good q250 matis shield. Told by our shieldcrafter to ask again in 10 years :D

Now this made me laugh. Why would you invite someone to your guild if you didn't know them? its the mass spamming of guild invites that lead to people no one knows gettin into guilds, and that would mean that the guild shares some responsibility in how that person became tagged and how they represent the guild. If you spend all of 5 mins talking to the person, then you don't really know them and take the risk that they might not represent your guild in the best light.

Does that mean they share responsibility for a persons actions/attitude? not really, but they risk their guild name becoming associated with those type of people. The last time I made an alt char, I had two guild invites before I even loaded into Yrk... two! no tells, no around chat, just a guild invites (from two large kara guilds). If you just spam the invites then you accept the risk that that person could mar the guild name.

Cattle calling guild invites, or spamming new players with invites to swell one's roster with numbers is very bad practice for a Guild that wants to provide quality of play to their members. And new players should take the time to get to know some of the people they wish to play with.

In Guilds I have run in the past, there has always been a "probation" before entry. A trial for the player and for the Guild. If the player likes the Guild, and the Guild likes the player, then the recruit would become a full member.

It makes for smaller Guilds, but gives everyone the chance to see if each is a good fit for the other. Begging money or members will get you little quality of either.

Well I can't speak for those guilds but thats not how mine works. We always speak to people before they join to make sure they've read over our rules, signed up to our forums and understand our trial/recruit system. However the best way to get to know somebody is to have them in the guild if you ask me and thats how the Reapers work. Just because they have 'member' status under the in-game lists that doesn't make them one. If they don't fit in or act like asshats then they don't make it past the vote...

Just because a person in a guild might not behave nicely, doesn't mean the guild thry are in is the same as that individual.

le sigh.

Hm, well, I have not been begged at in Yrkanis, when I am there (which is fairly often)... nor, in fact, anywhere else.

It's a bit odd though that guilded people would ask for "stuff" -- usually you look to your guild for that.

Some of us are, of course, a bit on the "proud" side and don't even like taking much from our guild if we can help it... preferring to give to the guild rather than take from it. Our guild leader has had to twist my arm to make me take stuff a few times, heheh. ;) But if you're like that, you're probably not going to be asking strangers for stuff either.

I don't really get it. I like to earn what I have in a game, not be given it for free.
