I think you misunderstand my meaning. By hegemony, I do not mean an alliance (e.g. KA) or aggressors. What I am tryng to name is the established power structure that is so firmly entrenched. The guilds such as BM, Evo, Nexus, I would include in the power structure not because they are factional, belong to any alliance, or are aggressive. My opinion of them is that they are all very friendly, generous, and peaceful guilds. I would include them because they are part of the long established status quo.varelse wrote: To the original poster, Musmus: were you aware when you posted this, that several outposts are in fact NOT held by "hegemony" but rather by sufferance?
. . .
These outposts are not held by virtue of any hegemony. The have remained in the same hands since launch because no one has challenged them at all, not because "hegemons" were there to keep them from changing hands.
Frankly, I'm not a big fan of my original idea either, because it simply substitutes one form of tyranny for another. Really what I am hoping for in this thread are ideas that would lead to a more dynamic OP situation, given that the game mechanics are what they are. The suggestions regarding how to improve the mechanics, I think many of them are great, but I'm more interested in dealing with the game as it is.
I'd even like to see the KA lay it all down and take over ALL the OPs and hold them for as long as they could. I believe that they could if they made the effort and could have for months now. I say that because I believe it would in the end lead to the breaking of alliances along factional lines and result in a more dynamic situation. Unfortunately they have shown an admirable amount of restraint. Their leaders are unfortunately not nearly maniacal enough for the good of the game.
