That way they aren't linked if you sell them etc, just if you're changing sets
You'd also be able to take specific parts off and add more on without touching the sets stuff too
Then again, thats just how i see it working, could be different
*gasp* Wow, first time I have ever seen you post, Xythus.

The question of equipping/unequipping multiple items of jewelry/armour etc arose way back in beta. The explanation then by the devs was that it is more "realistic" to have to do everything 1 piece at a time, as it should be a time consuming process and not an "instant" change of items.
A mooted alternative of introducing a corresponding time delay to the process of multi-item equipping was also rejected by them.
(just a FYI)

I agree with the equipping issue if you only see armor. Ever tried to don a complete suit of platemail, or even chainmail? From personal experience I can say: YES it takes time and most often you need someone else to help you.
And even Jewels have to be put on and off one at a time in a realistic (RL) way.
But with regards to moving Jewels into a packer or into an Appartment:
Who isn´t suited to grab a bunch of Jewels in both hands and throw them in a saddlebag or in a locker?
Mind you I sometimes even grab my soft clothes in both arms and throw them into the laundry... OK, not my chainmail, or any full suits of Bodyarmor, but "light" clothes should be realisticaly possible
It may surely be easier to apply one system to all Armors and jewels and all situations, but well... it would be more realistic to spilt them up, wouldn´t it?

Just a few thoughts

Personally I'd love it.
I can see the "realistic" argument; however, I always roll my eyes a little when "realism" is the argument against something in a place where you can summon elements from nowhere, and teleport from one place to another.
BUT
For me, the desire for being able to one-click equip a set of jewelry or armor isn't about speed. It's about saving me a lot of mouse clicks by being able to have jewelry or armor grouped. I wouldn't even care if the equip timer grew with relation to everything that was equipped in a group... for me it's about saving my hands some clicks.
Figure.. for every jewelry change, you have to move jewelry from packer to bag, then from bag to equip, then from bag to packer to put away the old stuff. Same for armor. That's a lot of clicks and reducing the number of clicks would really help.
It would be just as realistic as carrying multiple suits of armor... teleporting around.. viewing GH inventory from anywhere in the world... using a crystal that amazingly lets you learn from your actions twice as fast... Only take 5 seconds to craft a sword... Only take 5 seconds to craft a piece of armor.... and so forth.

I think you should get a union representative at work to update your dress code..that's just so out of date now

The changing of armor and jewelry should be done one at a time, rather than with a "click & switch" option, in my humble opinion. I personally prefer the added realism to the process. If you could change armor with a single button click, it would allow switching back and forth between heavy armor and light while alternating melee and magic during combat giving the player an advantage that I don't think was anticipated by the developers. It would unbalance the combat system in favor of the players and remove some of the challenge.
Just a thought.

As others I think have said, the amount of time it takes to change equipment should stay the same, but we should be able to do it with less mouse clicks. The equip timers make sense, but 20 clicks to change jewels does not.
Aside from changing the gear you're wearing, it would also help greatly pulling sets of items out of apartments and guild hall. Everything gets mixed and its a hunt to find the bits that go together.
The same thing applies to shopping on the merchants- I may only want to buy armor if I can get the full set, and having them bound together makes it much easier to buy and sell them. Also, its quite annoying that jewel sets are 10 items and the trade window can only handle 8.
Of course binding sets should be optional and temporary. Shouldn't be *that* hard to implement.
Another small desire- if I'm grinding craft and make 100 identical pistols, please stack them so I can sell them all at once. I understand they can't stack if they use different mats, but all too often we make large piles of the same item from the same stuff. Some things stack, why can't everything?

Agreed with everything you say, of course, but wanted to add one more thought. The ability to group a set of armor actually doesn't take away from realism, IMO. If I have a real closet, I can choose to scatter my pants, shirts, whatever in a random fashion or I can choose to group them in a way that makes sense to make it more efficient to use those clothes.
Relative to Ryzom, that's exactly what this request is all about. Allowing us the freedom to group/organize our stuff in a way that's more conducive to enjoying the game. Of course it'll take the same time to put the clothes on. But what benefit is there to being forced to click repeatedly just to change out the jewels? Nothing; it's just irritating.
