Max Launcher/Autolauncher speed is 12.

Pistol range no idea.
Rifle range 40
Autolauncher range 50
Launcher range 60

Autolauncher has a "Spray" effect, similar to the launcher having a "Bomb". Therefore it is comparable to a machinegun, as it hits multiple targets at about the same time in a spray-like pattern. If it were to chew ammo like a machinegun it would be even worse than it is now though, so using one shot for many enemies and using the spray effect works nicely.

Think of it more like a more focused and ranged shotgun shell then :)

The bazooka has the longest range??? That is just.... wrong!

how are Pistols overall?

that's probably the only type of Gun i'd be interested in, as I am trying to create a "Light Fighter" type of Concept Character.

2. The damage is low.
3. Ammo is expensive/time consuming.
4. Can't use my slow stanza with crushing ammo.
5. Taunt is more effective than ranged - you don't have to switch weapon.

This should be fixed, plus making the shooting animations better also when running.

Theres nothing wrong with ranged.

If anyone wants maxed stat guns. I can craft any quality , any race, 100 100. all 2h handed guns.
Has anyone else worked out the recipe for max dura, speed, range yet?

Well the vote on the forum post says ranged should be looked at. But I am not trying to claim ranged is broken... I am just trying to see what route I should go. Nice site you have, I'll bookmark it for the future. I thought the rifle had the longest range, but apparently it's the launcher.

But the animations honestly need a fix. They are non-existant almost and especiallt when you move. Say your character would lift his/her arm or something when shooting. And to say there is nothing wrong with ranged is fine from your perspective. But for new people comming to ryzom and having wondered about ranged for days on the island, it can be a bit of a disappointment and that in itself is an issue. Animations may play a bigger role here than most would think for making ranged seem nice.

I understand that it can be a disappointment. Ranged combat is a bit hyped currently, it has been a fighting tree just a select few mastered and perhaps people get curious just because it's missing from Silan. A lower level character buying a gun to level will find it slower than magic/melee, especially as you need to dig/craft the ammo. Getting some HP and Stamina from other trees certainly help too.

Despite it being bulky, I find it a fun skill. Good action. It definately have its role in big fights.

I don't mind it being slow... I like crafting, exploring and foraging.

Just checked out my rifle and it is a "Living stylon rifle of damage" with a range of only 30. So that explains why I think the range is short. The highest range with a launcher is 60 right? And another rifle has a range of 45 I saw. With those numbers I think the range may just feel alright even though I think the rifle should have the longest range.

One thing though that makes it a bit of a disappointment IS the animations. Today I was shooting a kitin, turned around and running... with my back to the mob it seemed like I was still shooting it without an animation. Animations are one of the reason I play PC games and not just regular pen and paper RPG. I think their ranged animations should be high priority and I am positive it will improve the feel A LOT for us newbies, to make us feel ranged is cool so to speak.

But for my playstyle. I had imagined some kind of sneaky slow sniper... but what weapon comes closest to that. The launcher has the longest range, but it is AOE and I like the idea of striking one target. Which weapon should I ask for?

And just a thank you for all the patience ;)

Definatly do your everyday-killing with a rifle/bowrifle: you can carry over 1000 ammo and wont have to respawn as often when you AoE'd a flock of very social herbivores.

You will probably only be able to carry around 30-40 pieces of launcher ammo (it's even bulkier than autolauncher isn't it?)

Ammo carry capacity
(assuming you're wearing armor and jewels, have a backup weapon/amps)

Pistol and rifle are a couple thousand
Autolauncher is maybe 40
Launcher is 12 or so
