borg9 wrote:sesune, you have implied a lot in your first few posts, but your last post says to me that you are 'just hinting' to Nevrax that your dad will buy you the company, 'if it becomes successful'.
Have you actually approached Nervax with an offer?
You got me entirely wrong, by me I mean my dad on my behalf, my cousin and few friends. Seriously I am only 19 and a college student I cant manage a huge company until I obtain my degree which will be around five years I figure. About buying nevrax that's my dad's old friend i.e the fifth person and a business associate. She always builds her business by buying out polished companies or companies that have potential. As per me will only intent to help nevrax.
As for approaching with an offer, yes my cousin did. Had good discussion with Milko Berset, though before he got the chance to actually put forth his proposal, Milko informed that they can't make changes in their plans during these times and that they have their hands full with R2. However Milko expressed an interest in helping with funds to market Ryzom Ring. However since my cousin's motive was something greater than marketing R2. He backed down and decided to approach nevrax once things are stable.
Why invest in an existing game that is 2+ years old, when with the sums you say you have available you could be investing in a new PC game, in a market that is sadly lacking anything new and innovative?
Actually the plan is
1) Re-define Saga of Ryzom
2) A fresh new game
The reason? as said we love SOR's lore and hate to see it being put to waste. The living planet has suffered the great swarming and is slowly recovering thus the plot actually gives the players to develop the world or even destroy it in their pursuit to revive their lost lands. Faction conflicts in a balanced and more meaningful environment could prove to be worthy. What I am talking about are not live events that progress the story. I mean interactivity which will change the world itself with the players efforts. We have several ideas to being 'life' to the existing backbone. What I have said may sound meaningless but I can only say that much.
A new game, whether ryzom plan is successful or not this will happen around 2010 (or 2008 if first plan is successful) that I am sure. There are sill several genre not introduced in MMORPGs.
Just interested and only asking because you have chosen to publish your wealth and intent in a public forum.
Yes and that's one of my serious problems, I just cant seem to keep quiet!

I wish you the best of luck, Sesune, especially since you sound very sincere in your desire to see Ryzom grow and develop for many years to come.
Perhaps if someone like you had purchased Horizons instead of the current owners, I wouldn't be here looking for a new game and a new community. It's good to see someone with the means and desire to invest in the future of something they love.

I ask for forgiveness. Spriteh brought this to my attention. I totally mixed the names up, I ment Daniel Miller was the Producer. As far as I know, David left the company around the same time SGM Lawrence did -- Christmas?

I'm not claiming to be a professional or anything, though I did briefly study business and may return soon, however, even though we appreciate your updating us on what deals you are trying to come up with, for yourself and Nevrax, I don't think announcing these possible transactions and deals in such an early stage to such an open source is a good idea. I mean, if I was a competitor company, I would be taking any information which I could get my grubby little hands on.

And also I do think that posts such is this won't do Nevrax much good.
On the contrary...

wow, a simple question sprung mightily off topic.. Thanks to the people who did try and answer the questions presented in this thread.
one thing tho - from what i know neverax is a close knit company, like a family. I'm pretty sure that they would only conisder selling a large % of the company as a last resort. As with any 'small' bussiness the people incharge treat the venture as a child - sumthing they are not willing to give up on or give out to easily. Espc. to (from what i can see) a non gaming background company/venture capitalist who has self based motives. Just my 2 dapper.
