Well, I realize some just like to talk, nothing wrong with that, but the you know what I'm talking about. The constant comparisons between games, the stupid stuff most of us gew out of many years ago in grade school etc...

Generally speaking, a 'regional' or 'universal' channel doesnt really fit into RP related things.. how do you integrate the ability to converse in such a wide manner in a in-game way? I just view those types of channels as /ooc channels (from the good old mud days) and anything thats 'local' such as /say and /shout is in-game.. but thats just me.

Most take everything post local chat as being enabled by the 'nanoseed', a sort of 'radiotelepathy' if you will.

Ha yes I've seen people come up with that explanation.. "oh it works because uh.. we're all telepathically linked" heh.. well whatever works I guess.. I'd still see say... /universe, as more of a global help channel being ooc.. unless theres an actual in game /help channel? heh...

Universe has no IC content, but you can cover the others by the nanoseed explanation

Granted, that said, Universal isn't the place for it. But I wish there was a channel for it.
The faction chat serves this purpose (at least the Karavan one has most nights), we make jokes, ask about OOC things about each other, or organize groups, treks, Aen hunts in it.
I've heard the Kami one is similar but haven't actually seen it.
So, if you join a faction, you'll have a place to chit chat with at least faction people, and if you team with non-faction people (yeah some of us do fairly regularly), then you can randomly chit-chat while you hunt too if that' strikes your fancy.

Usually.
The guild Chessack mentioned certainly does.

The one problem I have with that thread about guilds is... a number of them have no link at all (no website listed), so it is hard to know anything about them, and half the sites that are up, have only very OLD stuff... it's very hard to tell which RP guilds are still actually active.

*shakes his walking stick* Young people these days !
j/k
95%+ of the guilds on the list are active (unless noted otherwise) so some degree - while I agree that it can be annoying when the guild has no website, or doesn't update it, its often the case that they either have private sections which you can't see as a guest, or they spend their time playing instead of updating the website *shrug* As for the content of the list, I'm only one guy

I understand... I have a website that I run, in part, for a group I'm a part of in City of Heroes, and getting anyone but me and one other person to post to it is like pulling teeth. I know, people rather play the game than play games with the website.
I wasn't trying to come down on the guilds... just pointing out that it can be hard to tell if a guild is active or not.
