When I tried Horizons, I joined a guild with about 300 members. It was not a positive experience - it seemed very impersonal and unhelpful. No one noticed if a new member logged in.
In contrast, the Dragonblades all greet each person who logs in. We all help each other and make sure each member has what they need, be it teleports, equipment, training opportunities, and most of all fun.

I hate large guilds as much as the next sane person. The best guild I was ever in had 48 people, 40 of which where active every day. Everyone knew everyone else and everyone knew how to work togeather as a team. We were able to flawlessly execute things no matter how many people were around, be it 10 or 40.
If 10-20 people is the normal size for a guild here, and the max number of people you can have in a party is 9, then that seems like a decently porportional number to me. It'd be nice if all new players knew that though, so they'd know what to expect.

Yep, considering you can do
almost anything with 4-5 people in your group a guild with 5-10 people consistently online and working together is practically perfect.

One problem some people have found with larger guilds is the pure lack of storage space. Boss Mats/PR mats can accumulate a lot faster than can be used up, if the guild actively hunt for them. And if there are a lot of people online, there is nothing quite like a boss hunt. Of course, creating an alt for storage is a viable option, but that has its own problems. This is made worse by the OP production taking up loads of space in GS, meaning bulk/slots are even tighter.
Numerous people (Zysha, for example) have just found it easier to split off and be in a solo guild for storage space.
However, if storage space is increased, and the people waiting for r2 do come back, we may see larger guilds being formed.

Creating your own solo guild just for storage space sounds like a bad solution to a bad problem, heh...

Reading this thread, one could get the idea that only rundlls (aka "killer of noob diggers") guild is active...
heres a proof that other guilds can get some players on at the same time, too... from the AP's finest hour:

rundll32 wrote:To be honest i think the majority of guilds are stil active - if you simply wander around a bit on atys you will definitely bump into a few - there's a way of displaying peoples guild shields and names above their chars head in the game configuration - helps alot when trying to identify people and who they represent.
If you cant find how to do it shout out in regional chat and im sure someone will help
yes because thats exactly what i said there....the guild doesnt belong to me....im just in it....and i take part in all forms of pvp....

Even small guilds have this problem... It took about a week to fill my GH the first time and thats only with the sup and exc mats dug by 4 people...
