(I'm not saying you can never ooc in the saga, but think about why you are doing it and if it would be worth starting an ooc discussion in another place).
but then Philu will moan we're spamming... :p

Oh DT that is such a silly thing to say! We all know Uma and she has been around a long time like most of us. Just because her 1st 2 posts ever happened today DOES NOT mean that she isn't a regular forum user. Im sure she reads as much as the rest of us.

Does somebody with 1000+ posts have any more power over someone with 2 posts in the forums?

I'm color-coding this post, because looking at all these quote tags is slightly confusing...
kostika wrote:Or mixed IC and OOC responses, which only confuses the heck outta me.
Agreed. Annoying how people mix IC and OOC in their posts with no distinction between them. Some people just aren't clear on the difference.
philu wrote:Personally I think IC should be for all posts because there's no distinction between you or your toon.
Disagreed. There is a distinction, else it isn't roleplaying. Roleplaying, in this context, is speaking and acting as a character who is not you.
oldmess wrote:All I can conclude from a thread like this is that we have 2 choices in this game: Either be a top-notch roleplayer whose RP has almost no impact on real in-game issues or don't do any RP at all. If some minor OOC gets mixed in, everyone else's game is ruined and people get slammed.
Or, a third choice: be whatever degree of RPer you are, but be courteous and respectful of those who are RPing and separate your IC and OOC. To quote part of a post I made elsewhere: I certainly agree with enforcing bracket/parentheses usage and such. Because, personally, thinking someone is RPing until they suddenly say something about RL or game mechanics, is very disturbing and breaks immersion for me. It's like being bashed on the head with the brick of OOCness. Why is it different if they surround that sudden OOC comment in brackets or some other form of notation? Because I know it's going to be OOC from the moment my eyes read the first letter of the message, rather than reading through it and realizing "oh, that's OOC...ok, so how much of what this person has been saying has been OOC and how much has been IC?"

So...
oldmess wrote:I admit the last sentence is OOC
That you quoted, Oudknoei, would be just great if only the IC and OOC was separated. Else I have to take the whole thing as OOC because I can't easily tell where the IC ended and the OOC began, or if it was ever IC at all. :)

I am not bothered by OOC comments in IC threads/posts as long as the comments are clearly denoted, and there is no OOC-IC blending.

For once, I find myself agreeing with vguerin's RP stance. I like how an OOC issue was translated into IC action...usually, people just take OOC issues into the forums or something and whine ineffectively. I also think the Viccia thing was a good RP element. If people didn't understand it, their loss.

Go smell some pretty flowers - it's spring.

No. But, everyone has a good idea of who they are and how they represent themselves. Coming in and throwing your opinion in about something when you have never commented is tough. That's all. All you have to be judged on by many is those comments.

Not sure I know Uma personally. I've been playing for 18 months now. Bet Uma knows Noin(or the person behind Noin) even though we never met in character.

My personal feeling is that it's a great blow for propaganda... but its hard to tell where game mechanics end and RP starts.

Zahan _cant_ heal people involved in FvF conflict, no matter how much I want to. So obviously the "gods" stop him. Also, since he is not involved, he can neither hurt, nor be hurt by, someone involved in that conflict. Again, it's the gods who prevent it, obviously!

Thus, it's Jena or Ma-Duks fault that the poor little girl got injured this time... (Since Spells of MAss Destruction, or "SPAM" never hit innocent bystanders before...). And erm, what happened to her seed? Respawn button broke?

I like having an RP reason for actions, I just worry in this case something was totally made up that made one group look like child-killing lunatics and another group look like the poor wronged victims. The logical inconsistancies are why I have ignored that thread, not because I disagree with the intentions.

Or should I mention the orphans visiting our OP and having a "career day" considering becoming mercenaries that got caught in the crossfire when our OP was first attacked (by primarily Karavan guilds)? The carnage was horrible, shame we dont know who was responsible or have any witnesses either...

That's a good idea and might've worked better, I agree. With hindsight. ;)

That would be SMAD... :p Anyway, I guess children are not subject to the same combative/noncombative protection and rules of engagement that adult homins are.
And erm, what happened to her seed? Respawn button broke?
Maybe children can't respawn as much (or at all) because of immature seeds?

Happy for you if you aim to be popular ;)
Uma have been playing for 15 months, logging everyday.
Some like to have their mouth wide open, some don't. And usually if they open it, it's that they were badly hurt by something.
Not giving credit to posters who have only a few posts made me know you even better :p

Where did I not give credit to posters with a few posts?

I said the only thing you have to judge their standing on is those few posts. Seems pretty straight forward to me. It actually is nowhere near a character defacing remark.

It was not directed at Uma, and it characterises everyone with very few posts. The only characterization it says is this "not a lot of information to determine where they stand. "

Why is everyone so aggressive?

It has nothing to do with number of posts... It has to do with having a history of posting, take a look at the thread in question and see how many RPers are the ones mixing game mechanics with the story. If your history of posting is all IC, then you have more weight when you ask that others follow your rigid rules. You cannot make folks follow your rules as we don't all play/think the same way... You can show, by example, that you do it and show us how we might be able to do it better.

You cannot find too many threads anywhere in "Saga" that don't have an "OOC" element in them. Having someone chime in without an example of how well they have managed to mix RP without OOC is just trolling for a fight.

It's like complaining about the defensives measures some have had to take to limit AFK ganking when you don't wear PvP tags...
