This event was as good as you made it. - even though thetraver and buddy where bieng Cheap, i'm sure they had fun too - it was just what they made of it.
OOC:
Many folks like RP, but you got to keep it aligned with the story/events too. I see both sides of the coin here. It's what you make it, surely... But if you have to stretch things as far as this one went... it just seems wrong.

Many homins were digging solo in the area where these "saviors of homins" needed an escort. It was not in a pvp zone, so those who "might" have wished to stop this were not allowed (Though from what you state, some that were tagged took liberties - Tagged during a Trytonist event is a WHOLE seperate issue).

Where's the beef ?

When they turn into nothing more than tours for newer folks, your gonna get less people coming to them. The so called "Amber" pieces we chased around in the past soured many of us on these things. I used to go to them regularly... But when your wandering without a clue in a major cluster, and someone shouts "I found the magic amber cube" and it ends without any meat... it's just gets old.

Honestly, I had hoped that all that followed this ranger were killed... THIS would have raised eyebrows and shown that where these folks come from is a dangerous place and they risk life and limb to tell us their tales. Or even ported to another map of nasties and then right back... a HINT of what lays beyond for those of us that still wonder what's next.

I still try and cross post all this stuff on my site to keep folks informed so those that like it (you and the rest of the 20% :P ) can stay informed and attend, but I am as disenchanted with them as Jayce apparently is.

RP has to have meaning too...

(OOC:

I don't attend many official "RP events"...I attend the ones I can, but if I miss it, no big deal. Unless it relates to the kitin, then of course Jelathnia is very interested. But if she somehow misses it, surely someone from the Order will have attended and she can pick up what happened.

Anyway, I find that official RP events tend to be muddied and degraded (a la foraged material quality degrades when you're digging too high quality for your skill :p ) because there's too many people and no control. And more people = more nonRPers and semiRPers to disturb it with their unrestrained OOCness. And even the event runners sometimes devolve, to some extent, into OOC.

Question??

Could this event have been labeld as an RP event, instead of leading a lot of ppl into roots to see aggro they have already seen before??

I have to say this was the most disapointing event I have play in ryzom, for me at least. I get more fun out of missions and rites then I did yesterday.

totally offtopic:
yes if they are 10 years old and have drunk too much Pepsi. The majority of people who are tagged have some common sense and decency.

more on topic:
I enjoy RP events, but i think it would be useful if they were advertised on the forum as such, otherwise you end up with a 100 people expecting new lands and kitin and whatever, and they get upset when none of that happens. There are a lot of people who dont give 2 hoots about the kami or the karavan or having a storyline to the game. its sad this is the case, but also not fair to get their hopes up in this way.

Amongst all the critiques of the event, what I haven't seen is some sort of non-judgemental summary that tells us what did happen and what was discovered. Can someone that was able to attend (and isn't totally angry about the event) provide a quick summary of the event and it's result?

Thanks

I sorta fall in the middle. I don't really want to participate in something that is nothing but play-acting. I want to do something. But if an event changes the storyline, it should in theory have some impact on gameplay issues as well down the road, yes? That's why a summary would be nice; so we can begin to see where the story is going in ways that might impact gameplay.

Or in Rushin's terms, I give somewhere between 0.75 and 1.25 hoots about the storyline. Not a full 2 hoots, but I'm still interested so I understand how it may or may not impact game play.

Ranger Guy: "Take us to Midway point in Wastelands!"
One trek later:
Elias Guy: "Thanks for the escort; we will camp here for the night and await Elias before heading into the dangerous deep roots. Please take so-and-so back to Zora - he is our link to the homin peoples."
Ranger Guy: "And don't forget about the kitin menace!"
Another trek later:
So-and-so: "Thanks for the escort, I'll keep you updated :D "
</event>

Sarcasm aside, thats basically how it went down.

Yep, that's how it went - if all you are interested in is the movement arrows on your keyboard :D

To summarize the story instead of just the physical movements, the Guild of Elias have made the decision to venture into the deep roots in search of old technology that would give homins more control of their own destinies in the midst of the struggle between Kami and Karavan. They are being assisted in this by the Rangers of Atys. This event was the escort of (or attempts to interfere with the escort of) members of the Guild and the Rangers to the point in PR where they will attempt to penetrate through to the deep roots.

Thanks. So nothing of note was discovered; this was pure prelude? hmm. I can see why there would be frustration with the event. Regardless, thanks for the summary.

That was the previous event at Lixie Camp - Sxar posted a transcript of it, so I didn't think there was much point covering it again ;)
