I'm afraid that I have to disagree with this. The temple event was a perfect example of how it has been done wrong. We were given the choice of either stripping the land to build an ugly temple for the Karavan or stripping the land to build an ugly temple for the Kami. Up until then I was a strong Kami supporter but I could no longer support them when they started copy-catting the Karavan.

IF

The Kami had come to us and said "Homins, the Karavan are urging their people to strip the old lands of their resources to build ugly temples in the four lands. We need your help to prevent this from happening! Go to the old lands and try to stop them. Go to the temples and try to pull them down. Take what resources you can salvage from the temples back to the old lands and we will take it and try to stabilize the land."

THEN

I would agree with you completely.

Rather than pointing that out OOC as a flaw of the event, I responded to that IC. It became the basis of why Jel went from Kamist to neutral anti-cult hominist.

A somewhat meandering-off-topic comment/thought, but if people turned OOC problems they see into IC, they might have some good, interesting RP material.

Hrm, I need a disclaimer for this...*searches for sticky note with disclaimer #38 scribbled on it* *sticks it to post*
I'm not responding to the person I quoted, or speaking to them directly; rather responding to the words quoted, which happened to have been posted by them. :P

Yep, same with Radsul :D . Doesn't change the fact that it was poor event design though. If you want us to choose sides, then at least make the sides different!

I agree that (if implemented well) war can provide some fun content (other stuff is needed too though). My problem is the way it has been implemented. If the current PvP stuff had been implemented from the start I would have hapily picked a side and fought away as i lvld.
However now, for me at least it is too late, Seren would NEVER join the karavan, if she has always leaned towards Kami/neutral and its too late to change that now. However if she chooses Kami/ neutral she will no longer be allowed to stay in the guild she joined which has become a family to her. As it is, she dithers, undetermined, walking till her feet are sore and unable to journey to different lands without great thought.
Ill probably stay playing infrequently till all tps are used up/i achieve the goals i had with her/ i get bored of being penalized and give up but the new 'content' has killed the game for me and i have already told the guild i am leaving, I just hope they join me in EQII.

1. its an option when creating a topic

2. it a basic means of seeing community opinion on the matter, promoting a reasonable discussion of the game we play.

I don't think its a topic on the IC stance of players on peace and war, but the best means for compelling player conflict if any, from an OOC playing point of view.

...Ewwwww.

EQII shows why we have Best Story. I really hate preset sides, and "Good" and "Evil" are the worst there is. I don't want my character to be limited by their race in how they can think and act. Also, the quests are ridiculous. Makes it feel like a linear single-player adventure game, leading you by the nose from one pointless quest to another. Epic adventure to slay Grimgash the Orc...ok, slayed, but a few hours later he's back and must be slayed again. Way less realistic than being asked to kill a type of creature, or a group of bandits. Creatures on Atys respawn, that's explicable. Bandits reform. Yubos don't carry money!

I would strongly discourage you to waste your hard earned money on an unethical company like Sony Online Entertainment. If anyone thinks we had it bad here... this is what SOE did to their Star Wars Galaxies customers:

- changed the game from a "target lock" system, similar with the one in ryzom where you can select your enemy, to a first person shooter where you shoot at whatever is under your mouse reticle

- eliminated all the crafting professions; there is still some crafting, a totally dumbed down version of what it used to be. Besides, most of the crafted items are now useless as there are better looted items to be found.

- dumbed down the game tremendously... it became "easy, fast and easy", suitable for attention challenged people and, generally speaking, for anyone looking for instant gratification and smarter than, say, a mollusk.

- reduced the number of professions from an amazing 40-50 of them to exactly 9 "iconic" professions... with no flexibility or customization.

- added a tremendous amount of bugs on top of the existing ones, many of them not fixed since the game release.

Guess when all these exciting changes were announced to the community? Tho weeks before they went live... AND one day after the release of an 45$ expansion... which most of us would have never bought had we known about the changes in advance.
