I haven't been in this game more than a day past my 7 day trial and so far the veterans I've met have been very helpful. Some a little over-eager to recruit, but still very nice.

I, along with several friends, tried this game out as an alternative to, the now destroyed, Star Wars Galaxies. Being a noob again is fun and the skill based system, along with the combat and crafting holds a lot of appeal.

The low apparent population, at least in Zorai, does concern me a little, but otherwise I've been enjoying this world.

As long as you can deal with most everyone you meet off noob island being 100 levels or more above you, I think starting new in Ryzom will be pretty fun.

I'm 110% new to Atys, and so far I've met a number of good reasons to play the game (all of whom were really cool guys who can blow things up quite handily). Certainly not the community I had to put up with in WoW most of the time (though I'd have to say the RP servers did have the better of the communities on average).

ANYhow, I'm likely going to stay and see how I like the place based on the community, and the world itself seems very...natural...I guess is the word for it. Seems ridiculously big. Which is realistic I guess. :P It'd be nice to see others around my skill level, but that's really my only complaint. Hell, I'm still low so if any new people want someone to team up with (I don't level particularly fast :P ) then give Cirino a call. :D I'm usually armed with shiny spells, a pointy stick and relatively bad puns.

grendel1 wrote:And as for finding a lowbie party to play in: I'm not far shy of being one of those "level-cap toons". However, just last night I spent, oh, 6-7 hours working one of my lower skills in a party where 3 of the 6 players was under 60. And if you push for it, you can get 60 in a skill in, oh, 2 days. 3-4 if you're casual like me.

That's Casual?! !? Uh, that's more like pretty dedicated. "Casual" is like me :p , I only get two to three hours of play time a day, no more than 12 hours in a week. Its taken me three months to get to level 65 in four trees :o .

There are plenty of lower-level players around, and I see more each day.

I've been playing on and off since the retail release. Only my desert digging skill is higher than 80! I'm so lazy.....

There are quite a few low-ish level players around to team with. Even if you get into one of the high level guilds, make them help you level!

You may not see alot of lower level players around, but they are out there. Typically in a guild or team off leveling. Oftentimes when your in a guild, the players will bring in an alt. avatar and help if their primaries skills don't blend.

It's a welcome change for us to do on occasion and the sooner the low level folks level... the sooner they can contibute to their guilds effort to serve Jena, Ma-Duk or themselves.

How does one use the switch? I haven't found it as yet using an alt character on ATS.

Offtopic:
In the "health window" (hit h to show/hide) there are two new coloured squares in the top right corner. The one that's clickable is the PvP switch :)
