Oo... Darn, that would be pretty hard to accomblish...
I mean, are all supposed to use the same music?
There aren´t that many pieces in the OST that fit to PvP Action or whatever...
:( Well, have to go and sniff out unlicensed stuff then...

I completely understand the trouble with copyright issues, but it´s pretty restrictive for us to tell us now....

Request clearification on that matter!!!

Iirc the subject came up during the last contest, but I'm too lazy to look for it ... and one of the Nevrax answers was that "their" music, ie all the soundtracks available ig or on the website, along with non copyrighted music, were the only types of music allowed.
But things might have changed in the meanwhile :) .

Well, I do belive that this would fall under Fair Use if it is copyrighted, as "the material you have taken from the original work" (has) "been transformed by adding new expression or meaning". In this case, the song (I honestly have no idea where or what it is from) has had the meaning changed by applying it to the lack of players in the non-FvF zones, rather than the original work that it was applied to.

As far as I can tell, submitting this in the contest would not create in instance where it "deprives the copyright owner of income or undermines a new or potential market for the copyrighted work", as the original artist is not participating in the contest (so they are not deprived of income), and the original artist probobly wouldn't be making vids for Ryzom to begin with (so they are not deprived of market).

Moreover, if the audio clip in the vid is not the entirity of the original clip, or the audio had some original video that is now removed, then the lesser portion used would be more of a fair use. An acknowledgement of the source material would probobly help tip the vid towards fair use, though.

Still, kind of a bummer that the restrictions have been placed, as there's a heck of a lot that parody or subtle references with movie/othergame/whatever music could do.

PS: (sorry for such a late post, but this stuff takes _forever_ to find solid information on)
