Yes, I noticed that too. The main argument in favor of PvP that I've often heard is that it allows for some sort of 'infinite content', because other players constantly come up with new tactics and thus fighting them doesn't get boring as fighting npc's does.carrie wrote:I also applaud Nevrax for pleasing the lust for PvP. It is important to please that audience as well. Apparently, they've done a great job in that. But have they really? The particpants of the PvP event are bored and talking about games that have better implementation of PvP.
Yet after a little over a week of Aelius Dunes, there was an almost 24 hour period of peace because people were getting tired of the fighting. There were a few players who kept on killing in that period so I asumed those must be the die-hard PvP fans, yet when war broke out again because of them, I heard a lot of them complaining about being bored. On these forums I hear fans of PvP say that PvP wasn't what attracted them to Ryzom, and that they're better of looking for PvP in other games.
Yesterday the number of people in Aelius Dunes was maybe one third of the number that was there last week. Olkern Lakes has made it live up again a bit, but it's really just more of the same in a different setting, so probably people will get bored even faster this time.
Just my impression, I might be getting the wrong one, but I'm starting to doubt how long global FvF will keep people entertained
