Why just not wait and see ... maybe just maybe you could get the surprise of your life
Speaking only for myself.
Let me start by putting my relationship with SoR into perspective first, been playing since beta, got a one year subscription at launch. Played SoR for RP, exploration of the world and lore, and for the posibility to influence the progress of the game.
I have been on and off SoR in recent time, since I found the game wanting in what I found interesting and what Nevrax had said the game would be/become (no, I didn't expect them to give us everything, it is rare for games to do that).
I have tried to attend every event out there, player and Nevrax ones, since these are the moments that carry the game forward in huge steps. Of course the day to day playing of the game was an enjoyment too, but events was made SoR something among the MMO games.
Now, as I said earlier, I have found my enjoyment of playing very low and have therefore been looking for something, anything, to keep me going. To me R2 was the answer, but as it turned out it won't be released until next year. So I had to look for something else and the launch of episode 2 sounded really interesting, it appeared to contain a lot of the content I wanted from SoR.
Sadly it didn't turn out far worse, the behavior of the leaders etc. went off on a wild tangent compared to what was laid out in the lore, and what I have experienced during my stay on Atys.
And the only way to be part of the current event would go against what I attempted to roleplay. It wasn't the PvP, it wasn't the turn of story line (it can all be part of something we have to discover), it wasn't the unobtainable rewards in the event based on what 'honour points' I could achive.
No, it was that Nevrax had effectively forced us into two boxes (remember those from another post?) kami and karavan. And the worst part was that there would be no roleplay at all, zero, zip, nada...
What is the point of a RPG if the only RP is between players, and not with the world and the story line as the game was intended and sold as?
P.S.
I did go to the PvP area today, completely against what my character is about, since it wouldn't matter being the last day here. I do think that I owe it to Nevrax and the players to at least try it out.
Did I enjoy it then? No, not really. The most fun I had was chatting in around and in tells.
To Chandra: Sorry for chaseing you off into a kitin
To Dangarhara (who killed me too many times to count): Those chats while dead was fun. Due to all my deaths I was able to beat your highscore in Tetris on the gameboy, the kitin stole from you for me, sorry.
You can have the gameboy back when I get my blueberry pie back.
