It seems that a recent change in policy keeps the Ryzom staff from announcing player run events. When I requested an announcement, I was told that the development team was upset over a certain player event that went awry. Please pass the word to your respective guilds to let members know about this event. We were vey much counting on at least the smallest amount of official support, as we had seen repeatedly in the past. Help us out! The last thing I want is to go through all the planning for this event and then have it flop because nobody knows it is happening...

While attendance was somewhat short, we saw 5 teams of racers:
Team 1 - Gywidion / Kiwi
Team 2 - Riveit / Starrain
Team 3 - Dmer / Fasinus
Team 4 - Nikopol / Himiki
Team 5 - Marelli - Mioette
In the very beginning all racers ran directly into a camp full of bandits! The Slashing Slathes made quick work of almost all racers, who were allowed to respawn back at Karavan Grove of Confusion. Soon afterwards, Nikopol and Himiki bowed their heads in shame as they admitted defeat. It seemed that we had 4 strong teams until Kiwi went down in a ball of cuttler slobber. Gywidion was brave, but died in an attempt to revive her. This left 3 teams, only one of which had reached the first checkpoint. Riveit and Starrain threw in the towel when they realized that they could not get to CP1.
This seems like a sad state of affairs, but believe it or not both other teams completed the race.
1st Place - Marelli and Mioette
2nd Place - Dmer and Fasinus
When I announced that there will be another race on the first Saturday of next month in Fyros, Fasinus was heard saying something to the effect of, "I'll be there! We're takin' home the prize next time!"
Since only two teams completed the race, they were also eligible for the complimentary consolation prizes.
As the racers walked away, they could be seen spinning their new quality 10 staves in twirly circles with surpising speed.

Next month, OmegaV with the help of Infinity and other members of the Honda Accord, will be hosting another leg of the Great Race - Part 2: Scorched Corridor. Be prepared and bring yer gear for the most challenging series of races in Atys history!

Thanks for running the event, it was great fun - especially as me an' Marelli won! (thanks also to Dmer and Fasinus for doing the hard blasting that allowed us to dash past and get to the finish line first, and of course to my team-mate Marelli for her navigating that made us the first team to get to check point one - oh, and the bandits for taking out the opposition 
).
As was intended by yourselves, the course was tough, and the teams had to work together to fight their way through. Even though I enjoyed it, it did feel a bit wierd to have to cooperate with the "enemy" in order to win the last dash to the end. I would prefer having either larger teams, or an easier course, next time so that is less necessary. However, even if it's just the same, I'll still be there next time if I can!
