I think they were going for the old reel-to-reel projectors I haven't seen since high school. Guess the Karavan wouldn't let the creator borrow the digital video camera...
Not surprising actually. All currently working technology on Atys is based on organic materials, harvested and qartered.

The only species/culture with metal is the Karawan. Their metal technology however seems to be corrupted/infiltrated/infected by Atys organisms as can be seen in the dilapidated state of many of their ships.

Almost as if the Living Atys developed an immune system against the Karawan.

Anyhow, I can see how you could fashion an 'analog' camera from organic material. Carve the housing from wood, seeds, bones etc; use a long strip of intestine as film; coat it with photo-reactive pigments from various organisms.

A 'digital' apparatus however would almost certainly require metal and may as such be either susceptible to rapid corrosion/attack by the Living Atys or simply too low down on the Karawan maintenance list after ships, life support, weapons.

i attended the press conference tonight and was just wondering if anyone could tell me what the point was. As far as i could see we were all told to ask questions, when we did, we were told to read the forums, i learned nothing new, nothing to catch my interest in this story, then the GMs left. A complete non event, and really frustrating as i spent a while hoping it was something interactive and trying to get involved in the story. When i want to rp for no reason, i am capable of finding ppl to do this with. This is the last (non)event of this type i will attend, from now on, i am going to wait untill something starts to 'happen'.

Its sad really, but I didnt attend cause I suspected something like Seren says.

Great that it is a build-up to bigger events, but we shouldnt feel like we have wasted our time.

OOC:
FYI: event != PvP, there are many different kinds of events, this one is an RP event. not that difficult to undersand imo...
or do you attend one of Drakfot's storytelling events and expect Drak to chop you to pieces?

IC:
one of my guildies said there was someone murdered in pyr yesterday. does anyone have any information about it? From what i've heard so far, Pyr is getting more and more dangerous every day :S

Late last night the Pyr guards on patrol in the dark back streets came across the corpse of a man. The guards called for Sergeant Ulyros, who was on the scene within moments of the alarm being raised. The guards paid their last respects to the fallen Fyros and made preparations to take the corpse to the graveyard. When they noticed the body was not cooling, the body was taken to the Pyr physician where the body was examined with greatest vigilance.
Using paralyzing toxins the victim had been put into a profound coma from which there has been no successful resurrection.

Sergeant Ulyros has released this statement:

We found evidence at the crime scene that collaborated with evidence uncovered from past incidents and clearly pointed to the Southgate Snatcher. We regret at this stage in the investigation we can not divulge full details of this information to the public as it is vital to the case that this information is kept undisclosed to prevent public hostility towards suspects from jeopardizing public safety.

We can however tell you the details of the victim. Aelon Ibiseus has lived in Pyr all of his life and from what we can tell has now had the unfortunate fate of crossing path with the Southgate snatcher. We are doing all we can to try and aid Aelon in his recovery since he is now a key witness into the investigation, unfortunately however we have to date seen no recovery in his conditionÂ’

I know how to cure him. Stab him till he dies and then let him be reborn once more at one of the altars. Works for Sanz every time.

Hmph. Far from being a suspect I'm actually offering my services as a bodyguard around Pyr. Southgate Road is obviously an undesirable place due to the large amount of dapperless riff-raff that 'live' there. This lack of wealth has meant that I usually avoid the place but if there is anyone who needs to pass through relatively unharmed, then let me know.

As a gesture of good will, if anyone needs an escort who actually lives on that foul street then I'll offer a 10% discount. In these dangerous times though, I can't guarantee that hoodlums won't rob your appartment while you're away. In my capacity as a 'security consultant' I recommend you either move away (if you can afford it), or sign up for our competitively priced 'protection' scheme. As long as you keep paying the premiums, your home will be safe under The Samsara's watchful eye.

To address concerns that we're actually trying to profit from this tragedy, a few of us will dedicate some valuable time to this investigation. The first thing I'd like to know is, apart from the wealth of these victims, is there any other connection or are we dealing with random attacks?
