Remember that you can use lower brick to get partial effect with lower consumption. If you use fire rate that is optimal to q50 weapon and you have q100 weapon, effect will be half of full potential. At least, this is how it works with most of the other fight bricks.

hit rate has no "maximal efficiency for a weapon with a recommended skill level of XX"

so, if lvl1 hitrate would increase firing rate for (for example) 10% on q10 gun, then on q250 gun it will still increase it for 10%

i find it optimal to use lvl 3 or 4 hit rate.. with higher ones, i will kill myself quicker than mob would.

Hmm, I thought it had similar optimal weapon q than other similar bricks but text was just missing.

Sorry to bring the old thread back up, but when playing with ranged weapons yesterday I remembered this and decided to test it with a stopwatch. It turned out you were right, Mikos.

First I used a q10 gun and q10 ammo, by default I had a speed of about 24 shots per minute. Using hit rate +1 gave me a speed of about 44 shots per minute. All the hit rates higher than that, from +2 to +9, gave me the same speed of 44 shots per minute.
Then I used a q110 gun with q110 ammo, which by default had a speed of about 26 shots per minute. Hit rate +1 boosted this to 28 shots per minute, hit rate +2 to 29 shots per minute, hit rate +3 to 31 shots per minute, etc etc. Untill hit rate +7 which gave me 47 shots per minute, and +8 and +9 gave the same.

So hit rate does have "maximal efficiency for a weapon with a recommended skill level of XX" like any other fight brick, even though it's not mentioned in the text. Hit rate +1 is definitely not the same for a q10 gun and for a q250 gun.

The maximum effect given by this brick is thus about 80% speed bonus. Which also means an 80% damage bonus, so it's less effective than the increased damage stanza for melee weapon, which gives 100% damage bonus. And for the same credit cost per hit, so over time that's 10% less damage for 80% more stamina and health cost. In conclusion, I think it's safe to say the skill is junk :D

Lots of posts have talked about 'not increasing/improving range effectiveness because it is different from other skills. Ok, let me tell you that to get a decent fire rate + decent aim, + decent target requires more stam than a melee uses in norm battle. I amm 100+ melee & 50+ range but I know what uses the most stam.

I don't expect range to be cured ovenight (although I'm not sure why) but I do expect a cure for ammo bulk. I have pursued this question through all the known channels but have more response from Sven than from Nevrax or their lackies. More than anythinbg it is the selective response to questions which will drive me away. But then Nevrax doesn't have to answer the pertinent query since we pay money and they only hide behind Jessicas skirts.

C'est la vie.

One other thing is you can´t use stanza like skill dodge for range weapon, that in melee fight can give you some considerable decreased sta/hp usage

Yep, no opening after critical and no feint either. But then it wouldn't make much sense to have such skills for a ranged weapon.

Though I guess it does make ranged sound even more useless than I already made it sound ;)

the only rationale for the high stam cost of ranged - that I can think of - is to force you to use LA for reduced penalty.
This is irritating, as sometimes you still want the ranged fighter to tank - in order to keep the mobs away from your casters.
They still have a long way to go to get ranged working..not perfectly, but well enough that players who arent masochists will think it viable..

Ranged pretty useless, I only have it at around level 45-50, haven't used it in so long I'd have to log in to check. But, for some strange reason, I do remember it as slightly more fun than melee, if less useful. Perhaps only because I'd get a free chuckle every time Baxter parried with his pistol :p
