Of the five 97/97 (as seen in the craft window) Supreme Zun combos ive made only two dropped once crafted and then only to 96/96 , but maybe ive been lucky ?

I know there atleast another 3 97/97 combos just from harvested mats so there could be some suprises out there :)

Ooh, a challenge. I'll pick up amplifier crafting right away, then start harvesting basic to excellent grades of all six ambers (can't do supreme yet) and start experimenting with them. Been looking for something to do since I've finished figuring out the experience equations (except for some details I can't test by myself).

I once long ago tried doing something like for armor, but if I recall correctly it didn't go up linear. For (an imagenary) example having an empty craft window and then adding one mat would take a stat up to 7%, then adding a second mat would take it up to 12%. I'll see if I can find back the notes I took back then (if not, I may test it over).

Bah, now you've spoiled it. I was looking forward to figuring that out myself.

Oh well, I'll just have to find a better combination then :)

I can definitely see how this could potentially detract from crafting for some people.

However, out intent was to simply provide an interface where you could mix and match mats to see what the outcome would be, which is what you'd do in the game anyway. The only thing it would remove is the necessity of going out and rounding up all the mats.

We weren't planning on having a system where it just told you what to use.

Anyway, it's a pretty moot point as the crafting formulas seem to be pretty complex. So far, about 6 different people have all taken a shot at it and we haven't gotten very far. We have discovered some definite patterns but the last little key still eludes us.

Since the post-craft stats are so complicated to figure out anyways, how about making a tool on the BM site that just showed pre-craft stats? But even those sounds harder-than-simple at best. :p

But it wouldn't spoil anything really at all, and I can still see myself using it quite often.

Maybe that's just because I'm at work all day and can't actually get in game to play with recipes ;)

Hope that's sort of ontopicish....

Actually, all we were trying to do was to figure out the pre-craft stats (i.e. the "crafting preview" bars at the bottom of the craft window). From what I've seen, going from those bars to the actual crafted item is very simple, relatively speaking. Going from the raw material statistics to the crafting preview, however, seems to be pretty involved.
