For the sake of the players outside the european/american time zones, can we have another ongoing 3-4 day event like the Kitin invasion.
I still need to go to work for a couple more months, so 3 hour events starting at 4.00 am my time (20:00 GMT) are impossible to participate in, nor are the american times, which are during the working day here.

Several posts say the RAID engine is bust, but I don't remember an official post on it.

Ahh, another question regarding events! It's always touchy to answer such a question without spoiling the story (and I'm not even talking of having to face Ravna's wrath ). So I'll only discuss a technical side-point here: one of the reasons why we haven't run invasions lately was a stability issue. We have created some hard-to-catch server crashes with the last invasions, and we were reluctant to launch new ones before we had fixed the problem. Some work is being done on it currently and as soon as we have nailed the crash bugs and tested the fixes, we’ll start holding invasions again.

Noteworthy point that many seem to dismiss is that they are actually working on fixing it (or at least say so). Also, statement doesn't say that RAID engine itself is broken, crashes may happen because of extra stress caused to regular server code during invasion . Net effect is same though, no invasions until problem fixed.
