Sez Neun: "Find the spots you need using you big prospects - but use very tight and narrow prospects for digging. This way the area of effect of you digging is much more localised and the chances of multi node deleption is much reduced."I've often wondered about this - if bringing up the spots but not pulling the mats counts as a pull. I only use the multiple spots to find what I'm looking for but once I do find the particular mat I want, I switch to a close, one spot find. Are you saying this style of digging would help with the Kami bar and maybe keep more nodes accessable?

Dunno about that - since Atys is doing the auto-pop there for the lowbies...

hehe - nah popping spots "green balls of matty goodness' has no effect on anything
The spread of the spots (that are dug) can have an effect.
Lets say a node is 15mx15m if propect 1m in front of you and 0 angle ... all the spots will appear from that one node.
If you prospected 10m 180 degrees the chance of hitting more than one node is more likely.

So someone could prospect 8 spots a time all over a dig area and use up 4k focus until the field is a sea of green, and it wouldn't affect KT? And nothing would be depleted?
If none of these spots are dug, I mean

Neun, I see what ya mean. However, FF's problem is even more simple than that, I believe. The east side of FF is virtually uneffected and has as much mats as the west side (as it should be). However, the different types have been undistributed awkwardly, thus, making it seem as if there is something strange going on in FF.
As I stated in a past post somewhere(I think x.X; If I recall right. >.>), the west side is pretty much covered with mats that you cannot hunt for (aka herbie dropped mats) except for fiber. The mats on the east side are more readily available (Sap, Oil, Shell, etc). As a result, it gives the impression that it's a specific problem. Aye, Zy is right that there is a problem in FF. But the KT is working just fine I believe now. The problem is that they did not distribute the mats enough on both sides of FF. I recall digging sap on the east side and rarely had to move around at all. I could dig for hours, grabbing oil, sap and bark and would have no problem about depletion (move a few steps over when it depleted and prospect with low range and low angle - 5m; 20 angle to be exact).
I agree that FF needs a break from all the digging. I found a few spots in Corridor canyon to dig. It's takes a bit to get inside (as opposed to the small run from FF), however, it's not as bad as some would expect it to be. It really depends on how much ya want those mats. ^_^

That sounds like it's at least part of the problem, even though I don't dig FF.
The same issue arises in Upper Bog.
It's been stated before that certain mats need to be dug more both because they are not as available from mob drops and also more are just needed in crafting then the other types.
For some sadistic reason, the most highly sought mats seem to be bunched together. Everyone needs multiple armor sets, two sets of jewelery, and both jewlery and amps are known for wearing out quickly. Resin, wood, seed, amber are the main staples of armor crafting, amps, and jewelery. And seem to be in the same place. Where as fiber, shell, oil, sap aren't needed in as large of quantities. So those spots stay KT high and undepleted no problem, while the previous bunch is overdug to the point of Kami vengenace.
Maybe it's meant to be that way, I don't know.
