Since you can't shoot arrows around a corner, it's essentially the same as shooting through the object that forms the corner (at least in coding terms )But no, I don't think NPCs or anything, using any kind of attack, should be able to go through or around an object in the way. It feels quite strange when you do it too - it can happen a fair bit when a mob wanders and you have a team with multiple attackers/casters - trees and such easily get in the way.
