Semi OOC/IC mix .... Neun wouldn't talk completely openly about Elias, however I do like to share my personal feels about this subject

Elias Tryton - Is a mystery. As is Jena, Kami, Karavan, Atys, The Dragon and Atys itself.

All that is know about Elias (and the others) is based on whats in the Lore and has be passed down by Elders and Myth.

As with 'Gods', 'Religon', et al. Its based on your view point and beliefs.

Example of what I mean in a real life situation....

Ask various people in the Real world the following question...

Does God exist and who is he/she?

The answers will vary .... but onbody can confirm or deny who has given the correct answer. Also some may 'lie' with their answers. (Religious persecution)

Some believe Elias to be a ....
Homin (Tryker)
'Off worlder'
Human
God
Creator of Atys (different from a God, but similar idea, eg scientist)
Husband of Jena
Historian
Teacher
Myth
False god

and many other things or a mixture :D

I am cagy about talking of Elias, don't like the idea of a Neun spit roast.
(I am also wary that as hes a Nevrax char, he can be subject to sharp plot line changes based of the producers mood!)

So far ....

He was alive before the Kitin came!
He is still alive now!
He tells stories and knows of the 'Rainbows'
He Knows most, if not all the history of Atys
He is able to talk to everyone on Atys (Competition broadcast)
He seems to be collecting information about 'Both' sides (current event)
The Karavan fear/dislike him
The Kami are distrustful of him

so there you go just a little bit of info about Elias, probable more confused now than you were before!

Yes and no. What's the story in "current" event ("current" - is there still an event?)? He's collect info? How can I help? (Talking to myself: Am I starting to RP???)

Othere thing i forget to say in first post is that there is one other thing i don't get. Kami/Karavan fame. They are both supporting homins (in one way or another). If i take "kill bandits" missions from kami welcomer, i lose karavan fame and get kami. Karavan welcomer will offer me to kill same bandits (maybe not always same, but bandits are bandits) and i'll gain karavan and lose kami fame. Why everything that gives karavan fame drops kami fame? They must have something in common. Why i can't be really neutral (thats why i always write "neutral")? I guess sinds Nexus event neutrality is becoming less and less an option. New kami/Karavan troopers will make things worse. This polarisation may be good for roll-playing. Or not (if you RP an neutral or "i hate them both" character). I have feeling that i'm losing my "neutral" way of playing every day. I'm still trying tho.
Your post is very typical of what many people playing the game think and it's not really your fault, but the people running the game. Due to the lack of emphasis on the story and lore in game many players are misled about the Kami and the Karavan.

So here is a little lesson in the lore for you.

The Kami and the Karavan are enemies. The Kami are the Guardians of Atys. Their main purpose is to protect the planet. The Karavan however are mysterious aliens who have come to Atys. They wish to establish a permanate presence on Atys, the Kami won't let them. Partially because their machinery bothers the plant lfe on the planet, partially because they simply don't belong here. So this is where the conflict comes up.

Neither group is really in the game to help Homins. That's not to say they don't deal with them. In fact both group knows that the more homins they get on their side, the better chance they have of getting rid of the other one. They did help the homins when the Kitin attacked 3 generations ago, but that was also because the planet itself was in danger.

As a Kami follower and a Fyros (desert warrior and defender of fertile regions) i preffer to think at Kami as Protectors of Atys. But Atys as a whole. With all that lives on or under surface, including homins.
Karavan are foreigners, invaders. They wield weapons and they bring with them the heat from the sun. Our Kami protectors have no weapons, they use the power of the planet to repel the invaders. They don't need to hide under helmets as the Karavan do - I'm not talking about Zorai. Have you ever seen the face of a Karavan member? They are insectoids, I'm telling you. Kitin relatives. That's why they are hiding their faces.

Thx for the lesson.
Doe to lack of story you can say anything and be right. Part of confusion and for some ppl many posibilities for RP.
Following is stupid and random, but you can't say that it can't be true (or is some cases you can):
- kamis are so called "dead matisian ancestors"
- kamis are result of bad experiment od matisian genetic manipulators. That explains variations in their look.
- karavan are zorai who are ashamed of their masks. That's the reason they use helmets and black cloth to hide their blue skin.
- zorais blue skin does'nt belong to atys, so they also must be alien.
- kamis are hippies from planet "peace". You can see for sure that some kami welcomers are high (like the one in GoC or in FG).
- kamis and karavan are just an part of big corporation on 4th Ryzom planet "Karakamia" that will be ready in the middle of 2009 and come in shops just after patch 73. Then we will see they are only here on atys to charge us for teleports and take our money back there. They even bring kitens here, so we are afraid to walk and use more tickets. More info is available if you make "Tryker story 312" rite mission . Just speek with crystabel barman (if he's not too drunk to speek with you).

No not really. There is a big difference between making stuff up and completely ignoring parts of lore. Everything you listed is made up with no reasoning behind it. Saying the Kami and Karavan get along is ignoring the lore and destroying the ideas they were built upon. (Technology Vs. Nature)

True. Point of those made up examples is that there is not enough information in the lore (yet?) to make any conclusion.
