*oops* I guess I was wrong there. It seems these Frensh procedures differ a bit from the Belgian and UK ones. My apologies.
But still, since Nevrax asked for the procedure and the court didn't order it .. its still a big difference. I guess we'll know more in 4 to 20 months

Meanwhile, I'll just play SoR and don't bother

Strangely enough, people not logged in at all get full read access to all these forums, even though players with expired or inactive accounts don't. Try reading the forums on a computer that has no Ryzom cookies stored on it :P Or if you want to read again after you leave, just log out.vutescu wrote:err... just a suggestion. Just come in my mind.
Dont you think that a brand new player who's still in trial coming here to read the forums would be frightened of such posts? Maybe a way to limit "trial player" access to certain areas would help...
Re: Sugestions: Read this if you care about Ryzom
Maybe I did not make myself clear enough.
Imagine a player who know nothing about the game. He made a search on net, he liked the name and he goes to the site. Next logical step is to open a trial account. But in time he waits the download, he will read the manual or browse the forums. And what he see? Posts that make him believe he is about to pay an online game at a company whos about to fall.
Not that encouraging, isnt it?
That's why I made that suggestion. Maybe is a way to limit "trial player"s access to the forums. Or to certain parts of it.
*grins* at least till they pay :>

I see that as fundamentally unethical. How would you feel, buying somthing, and after the fact finding out that the seller has , intentionally, keept certain non favourable information from you, with the explicit intention of missleading you ?. I personally would would find that very offencive, and would not recommend annyone else to buy from that seller.vutescu wrote:.... Maybe is a way to limit "trial player"s access to the forums. Have to agree with you, new players should see us 'warts and all'.
If I joined a guild, that had a public face and after joining you found out they weren't not what there said they were, I would leave, It the same for the game.
Re: Sugestions: Read this if you care about Ryzom
OK.
It seems I have to reformulate again, since you are taking only what you wish from my words.
Is Nevrax about to fall? Maybe yes, maybe not. More players would give the company a bit more time to put things together. Keeping certain informations away from players / customers would help in bringing more customers. Why? You will buy a product if you like it even if you don't have infos about the producer. But finding out that the producer have big financiar problems will make you to think twice before buying the product.
Is nothing unethical here. Most customers don't even bother to find out about the financial state of a company. But having a poster at the entrance with "We are broke!" it sure not helps in bringing new customers.

That is exacltly the type of attiude that *I* abhoor, becouse sooner or later i will find out that the information has been queept from me, by sombody that thinks that i should be lured into a bussiness transction with them, and then the nagging feeling will start to creep in: what other information has been kept from me?, what info can i trust?.vutescu wrote:.... That highly depends on several factors:vutescu wrote: Why? You will buy a product if you like it even if you don't have infos about the producer. But finding out that the producer have big financiar problems will make you to think twice before buying the product.
What i buy.
The expected life time of what i buy.
The availablity of alernatives.
The price.
That most customers does not bother, is not a reason to hide information for those that does.vutescu wrote: Is nothing unethical here. And as far as i know Nevrax is not broke, if it was, we would not have this conversation at all.
On the contrary, they now have an almost guaranteed life time in beween 4-20 month time. Unless they manage to do some horrendous economical blunder.
Finaly, I percive that you and i are of a totaly different nature, i would rather have the truth, and make my own decission. That forces me to also give the truth to others to allow them to form their opinion, and make their choices.
