its not so much content it the fun element thats missing from ryzom a little these days. Maybe its just the novelity that has worn thin.
But the word Grind springs to mind... and thats not because im unimaginative. (id would be worried if i was being as im a graphic designer) However when i play a game i like to make progress, if i not making progress i feel like im just wasting time.
Dont get me wrong ill escort people places, do missions, travel, explore and look for bosses. But to progress i have to grind.
The RP stuff doesnt intrest me in the slightlest. tbch i think these marriage things are just plain wierd, but thats mho.
The largest proportion of fun i get from ryzom at the moment is helping out my friends and guildies!
Hopefully nervax will pull something outta the bag to buff things again
Time will tell

but i agree your right you can prolog the fun by entertaining our selfs... but i arent we letting nervax off the hook with this mind set??borg9 wrote:I guess what I am saying is its similar to comparing reading a book and watching a film. The book allows you to us your imagination and create you own view on whats written, it does however require the effort of reading. A film however provides all the detail for you, you don't need to think its all laid out ready present, little effort is required by the viewer. Both are entertaining. Both have equal merit and exist for different people.
I like to get a return on the effort I put. Neither 'type' of game is right or wrong (good or bad). They are simply different.
As for the game should entertain us....... It does, how it entertains us I have to say is down to the player.

Far from it .... I give 'Nevrax' just as harder time as the rest of the player base.1mage wrote:but i agree your right you can prolog the fun by entertaining our selfs... but i arent we letting nervax off the hook with this mind set??
However the game allows me to choose grind or fun. Chain killing onxy vs Hunting different mob types will travelling across BB.
Killing on is easy XP and very fast, but fun ..... for a while, mabe.
Hunting where you can die, now we are talking real fun, on the edge of you seat type fun. Its funny to what the players who just want the levels, complain that getting DP is no fun.
Its a simple fact that if you enjoy something its fun, if you don't then its not.
I strongly beleive Nevrax is committed to this project, they are not a 'big boy' like Blizzard & Co. The have deliver to me a game that is entertaining and has a huge future potential. Its best feature is that it is so very different from anything else out there.
Anyway ... I have posted stuff like this may times before ..... I like the game, its really that simple. Even after all this time playing I am still learning.

It's Ocyx and Nevrax *chuckle*
I kind of like the idea of instanced dungeons, but it does mean you're seperated from the rest of playerbase when you're doing your own missions. I guess it's down to the end result - if you can get loads of XP from instanced quests and missions, you may find the majority of players off gaining their own XP, and thus never see a large portion of the playerbase. Because of that, it may be impossible to implement instanced quests without a big chance of playerbase division.

Nope whats doing me is all this digging (lvl 165) my fight levels are pretty much maxed out now. Digging just feels to much like a job at times and now my craft level is 150 the amount of mats i have to dig is just crazy..borg9 wrote:I am just a humble digger in the sand compared to such a mighty warrior.

Bah I think instanced dungeons are a bad idea tbh. You have the troubles of player-division, and just the fact that the difficulty of the dungeon changes depending on how many people of whatever level go in there; it all kind of feels "unreal" to me (yes I know the game is hardly "real" but its a matter of relatives...)
On the otherhand, I do think that some permanent dungeons, that are always there (so if you are in there, and someone else tries the "mission" then they can find you in there) would be a good idea. It does however, beg the question "What are the roots if not non-instanced dungeons with no mission?"
Of course I may be way off here, and got the definition of "instanced dungeons" way off...

Re: Dungeons
I am leveling my armour branches up to 150 for the HQL bits, @ lvl 140 I am still getting 1.5-2 lvls a bag of mats. Experiment a bit you may find there are better ways of doing things.1mage wrote:Nope whats doing me is all this digging (lvl 165) my fight levels are pretty much maxed out now. Crafting is a grind if you don't really want to do it. If doing it because its there is you only motivation, I can understand how you feel. I do it because I want to, so to me its not a grind.
An good example of this is I don't want to level jewels, I don't need the dappers this profession would generate. So I guess I will feel like you do, if the jewels of Atys don't emerge soon.
