only melee weapons can aim for a particular part of the body?
Ranged weapons -DO- aim @ parts. Proven ability. (of the quite limited abilities of ranged)

It would make only too much sense if the developers included a ranged counterpart of the melee attacks in a ranged form, or simply allowed the current ones to be used in tandem w/ ranged weapons.
Has anyone tried using a fairly high-level firearm with high-quality ammo? Maybe it can become powerful if you get excellent equipment.
Grand news for you; Excellent mats will craft ammo that does an incredible, fearsome damage of 0. I'm sure the crafting of actual guns would work fine, but the only thing to be gained from this is a higher rate of fire (so we can waste ammo faster...) and a longer range (so we can pull mobs that'll take only .5 more seconds to reach us from 80m away)

There has been no mention of ranged-based stanzas. Thus, my post.

Ranged combat is a depressing topic. Unfortunately, it's supposedly a staple behind Ryzom's interest factor =\

Ranged combat was certainly one of the factors that drew me to Ryzom. Initially, I intended to play a primarily ranged character. Unfortunately, I discovered fairly quickly this was not a viable option. :(

Ok i make autolaunchers with ammo. range about 50 for ql30. Dmg for ql 1 ammo is 84 AOE. ql50 dmg (store gought of course) 250 AOE dmg. Even though they are 25 mats for six bullets. I make money killing mobs with it. And it fun to slaughter herds of animals in one shot :P

Anyone else lost about 35% damage on Rifle ammo (pirecing) after todays patch ?
(used store bought mats pre and post patch.)

Now the rifle does exact the same damage as my pistol.
So thats about 130 SP doing nothing (the range difference isnt a factor, its about 0,5 sec for the mob).
:(

All ammo now do 1/2 damage as before with the ammo crafted from basic shop materials (0/100 DMG modifier in the craft).

If you use choice parts to craft the ammo (gettting to 99/100 DMG modifier in the craft), you can reach the old damage...

But not get more.

I didn't use shop ammo yet. Might be interresting to compare. *goes to look*
Ah, the shop ammo is the same as if you crafted with the basic shop materials. i.e. half damage as pre-patch.

You were rather positive thinking with your 35% lost.
Sorry to break it on you that it was even worse.

*cries*

Well I'd just like to thank Nevrax for getting their priorities in order.

It's good to know that they'd rather screw the playerbase even worse than before than consider fixing some of the actual negative bugs and issues with the game.

Because... you know... ranged damage was overpowered.

I am extremely POed. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse it did. Hopefully when they said that they were going to fix the damage they accidentally put 1/2 damage as the correct instead of twice the damage. A utterly almost worthless ability has now be come totally not worth doing. If they didn't make a mistake they might as well take it out of the game because you'd have to be level 250 in range to do the damage of a level 50 melee person.

Again: It doesn't matter that the damage is low. It's the fact that all the enemies one could target with a ranged weapon can close the distance in less than 3 hits. Combined with the fact ranged has no skills that benifit fit that form of combat, and throw in the fact it costs a large amount of bank for a very limited pool of ammo, and you have one ****ed up combat.

They are getting stupid and sloppy with the ammo crafting values. The damage values were fine w/ basic mats because one didn't have to use the highest possible mats to recieve a decent amount of damage. Why on earth they would start requiring choice/excellent mats for ammo is beyond me.

Tip: I suppose there's one thing to be gained from ranged combat. You can actively run away from your target and still hit it. I'm sure the stupid *******s will fix this asap now, maybe forcing them to pay attention to this thread will wake them up to the other problems with ranged...
