Ok first of all the reason I brought that game up is becuase it featured a story. One of the reasons why it failed is becuase the developers started to listen to what players wanted as opposed to sticking with the core story that was originally written. I feel the same way about this game and the developers listening to the players. If they listen to them and develop according to what they want, it will end up hurting the game more than anything.

I will not go into a long discussion about why EnB failed. I only use it as an example to support my arguement.

As for my statements being contradictory. They are not. The things I listed:
Ten-gu, the Boregil, and The Bunny-ip were elements of the game that were not part of the main story. They were things that were things that either were never related to the main story or very loosly tied in.

To give you an idea of what I am talking about. The Boregil were a sub faction of the game. People wanted to know more about them, so they spent large amounts of time building up them, instead of pushing the main story. It would be the same as if the people in this game all of a sudden wanted to know more about the cutees. So over the next four patches they introduced the cutees island, made missions about them, had players running errands for them. All that while ignoring the Kami, Karavan, Kitins, and the 4 races.

The choice to follow what the players wanted instead of doing what was intended ended up hurting the game in a very bad way. My arguement is that if the devs follow what the players want in this game as opposed to what they know is best, it will hurt the game (in all areas, not just story items).

So are you saying players should have no impact on the story? Is this just a 3D movie that we're watching from the inside?

I'm saying that if the devs don't stick to their plan, and start following what players want. It will end up hurting the game in the long run.

I could try to convey the excitement of finding a fresh source of materials that were just what I was looking for, or the joy of finding out that on the other side of the tree I get nodes instead of bark, the tough descision about weather to simply let the area be exhasted, but get the mats I need now, or the debate and worry about just how long I can stay in a gas cloud or if I can stand the force of an explosion, pulling the full mat out and making it to rest with only a few HP left.

I *could* try to explain that. But if you don't get it, then you won't get it. Likewise, some people find it just as boring to go hack and slash and kill mob after mob. And others don't like crafting.

If it's too boring for you, don't do it. Don't, however, complain that it should be more exciting and fun to *YOU*. If anything, the patch will only make harvesting more exciting, since you can't change nodes and have to make these choices more, and or work with a group to care for the resource. If you are harvesting for XP, not for mats, then you are harvesting for the wrong reason (at least according to those who are complaining) anyway, since the mats are what is needed for crafting. Being able to pull QL 200 mats is pointless when no one can use them. Being able to pull 250's is even more pointless.

Pardon me for completely dismissing you as a crackpot willing to claim things they have no experience with as true.

I agree, currently four of us: 2 lvl 170 melee, 1 lvl 160 healer and 1 lvl 160 nuker (with blind of course) have been powerleveling great kinchers in prime roots, and they are lvl 244. And we've been doing this with ease for days now, pulling one great kincher at a time and killing them quite fast for a non stop stream of 3k xp (as soon as we kill the two at the entrace, another two spawn immediately). So why should the 4 of us go and kill lvl 170 mobs and only get 1k xp when we can easily kill lvl 244 mobs for 3k for a long long time??

Level 40 equates in this example at least to a level 180. So, should a group of level 180's take down a 200? Sure, with extremely good planning and a bit of luck. Once again, that is vastly different than level 100's.

Yes pre kunark. Wasn't to difficult. Necros were the best. After that necros were nerfed for over a year and a half. Completely useless 99% of the time. Especially in Kunark after they upped MR to insane rates.
