Well as our dear friends the Samsara were so fond of telling us at the time they owned an OP, owning an OP is soooo much hassle (I could find the quote but I think it got deleted because the thread went bad) and you have to stay up till all hours to defend it, and so on and so forth.

Whereas I can go digging for a few hours and as well as levelling, I'll also have enough mats to buy as many crystals as I can use. Or I could go hunting and as well as levelling, I can sell the mats (or craft with them or trade them) to get enough money to buy as many crystals as I can use. Or you know, I could just talk to my friends who have outposts and get crystals for free from them. This last one is something most of the complainers seem to have a problem with.

So yeah, I would say its a lot less effort than owning an OP.

Ok, lets try it your way. I'll dig you 2 hours worth of mats a week. Where do I get my 8 stacks of cats please?

Well you could try talking to someone who likes you for one thing. That might be a little tricky but I think the House Etchmarc, Vx3, and the "Dune Farm Farmers" will give you a whole bunch of crystals without any digging required.

You are of course, missing the point though.

So much hassle for a non-PvP guild, who doesnt have a majority of the PvP players handy to steamroller anyone who "steps out of line"?

from what i understand the reason they found it so much hassle was more to do with the pressure they got for being neutral and owning an outpost, kostika tried to keep both kami and karavan happy with trading but attack after attack from karavan is only ever going to leave you swaying towards the kami, this lead to a ton of abuse of the forums for not being "real" neutrals, a method of earning crystals similar to that of the old lands event would please everyone, well everyone except you, jayce and a few others....

Fair enough, maybe not as of yet, but one exception doesn't make the rule. Since you keep refering to our Outpost I'd like to point out however that I am not griping about our personal situation or enjoyment in any way, I'm seeing it as a more global situation from the other side of the fence.

sprite wrote: As for "excluding others to its content", there's nothing stopping you selling/giving/trading the supposed pvp-only content (which you have yet to pvp to access) to other people who dislike pvp.
I wished that were true, but it ain't; at least not if you would want everyone to have equal access. The reason being the limitation or availability of that content. One, two, three Outposts can in no way cater and trade to all those that dislike PvP, no matter how hard they try. I'm not saying it is completely impossible to get any of the content, I never said so mind you, but it is certainly less easy and less in proportion to those who actively take part in PvP. Alliances will almost always require support and contributions in the form of manpower.
Besides; it isn't an answer to the question why those that partake in PvP have easier access and chance to progress faster in PvE skills than those who's only concern actually is PvE.

I'm pretty certain Nevrax could have come up with other ways to dispense those crystals that could have pleased all and given everyone equal access; special PvP events or zones as used in the Temple Wars after which you can cash in points for kills for crystals or some PvP only rewards (things that only boost in said zones or in duels or OP battles), PvE events against kitin and marauders again with points to trade in, missions that would give crystal rewards so it is up to you how many you'll take and how many you'll recieve ... thus putting equal possibilities for skill advancment down to the individual and their choice, and the current distribution system not favoring one style over another.

Well, enough over Outposts and crystals, it's kinda derailing the derail of the original topic. ;)

I ain't dissing PvPers or saying that those who indulge in PvP do not deserve rewards, not at all, they really do so they can get that enjoyment out of their gaming style they are looking for and get that sense of accomplishment. But any such reward system would need to be made in such a way that those not favoring PvP have equal opportunities in getting a feel of accomplishment by other means, and not make them feel like they are being looked down upon, excluded or missing out on something very important that DOES concern their gameplay and enjoyment.

Something Nevrax said they 'would get it done right this time'. Heh.

Would love to keep arguing with you all but I have some business to attend to, keep those points coming in and I'll be happy to continue later :D

Ahh, so what your saying is, sure its possible to get cats without an OP... just not from me

Heh figures.

No, I'm not a fan of charity, and "workarounds" for game mechanics issues are what we do already. The point of my posts is to suggest and request mechanical solutions.

But you are of course, missing the point though.

Looks back at the old land threads....

wrong!!

There was even more upset then than there is now.

At the end of the day, neutrals do have it a bit rough, but until someone changes the game, thats the way its always going to be.
