It does not really matter if it is that company or not, what you mention is one of my fears indeed (just in case you happen to think about, I'm definitely *not* the mentioned negative Matis at all :) ). Be for 350k or even more, buying a full functional game engine + game data + artworks + IPR etc (do not forget that strictly speaking, the NeL engine is already available, but that is barebones) that costed millions to create and polish (can't tell the exact dates but development started well before 2001, and figures of 14M € have been stated elsewhere) is a BARGAIN.

I can perfectly understand a company which, looking for profit and minimal competition, could spend that much, not even in order to acquire that game engine and data set, but simply to prevent others companies from getting it.

I'm also worried about what Xavier seemed to state in his post (shell company). This opens a can of worms for speculation, at least from the players..."Didn't old Nevrax had a site in London?", "Wasn't Jolt somehow 'used to be close to the company'", "Wasn't DCC also involved in...", "What did Ms Mullig...become?"

This strategy of "I've been told / I've heard but I can't prove" is dangerous.

Amen sister!

Like i've argued already toa couple people... i can see and understand the freaking out of some people, but i do NOT agree with it.

the way i'm seeing it is.. A few months ago the game was for sale, and we didnt have any idea at all who would buy it - or if it would even be bought!! today, we have no idea who's buying the game. the difference? SOMETHING IS HAPPENING!!!

why is everyone so doom and gloom now that things have actually started to happen?

i see a few things happening ::
This is a front and a bigger company won't say who they are until the game is ready as a marketing idea (smart move imho)

this is some company that doesn't want any other company to have the game, because of whatever reason, so they're buying the game to kill it

this is a company with a bit of spending money thats willing to give it a shot and try to bring us our world back.

(a few other scenarios sure.. we could go on and on about em)

BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

whats the difference.? three months ago, we were exactly where we are now.

the ONLY DIFFERENCE in my opinion is a good one. SOMETHING IS HAPENING!

i'd rather KNOW than have no clue, and i'm positive many of you will agree.

ARGH! long live 'zom!

Bottom line:

- Liquidation moving forward, bidding process engaged.
- Identity of highest bidder unknown so far.
- Have to wait until bidding process is complete and new owner makes an announcement.

This all means nothing for Ryzom's future (whether the company decides to keep Ryzom / get the graphics engine / ditch it), and we may not have any news for a few days yet. But things are moving forward.

With so many daggers sticking out of Jayce's back he might just notice the one with the angry tryker attached (especially if she starts stabbing repeatedly)

*goes off to lurk some more too while waiting for some more concrete info*
