You choose the way of the merc, then you have to deal with the consequences.

You get dappers/mats or whatever payment you ask for...

We get cats...

I thought I explained this, but evidently you havent been following either.

Our pay is significantly less than an outpost holding guild gets. in most cases even with a large turnout we get just over a days production of cats per battle.

We "make do" because the alternative is worse. Making the best of a bad situation.

You can choose when you want to join a cause (OP battle), the owner HAS to represent... there is a huge difference and the rewards differ accordingly.

*sigh* I had hoped that you'd be able to make the logical jump from one to the next but obviously not.

You don't want to pvp, so you risk not getting OP rewards, or you can get some by trading/buying/being gifted from people who have OP and like you enough (tho maybe there's not too many of them?)
We pvp, gain the OP, and risk losing said OP rewards.

Sounds like win/win for everyone to me.

You can get OP rewards without PvPing with little or no risk - all you have to do is be nice people, stay out of the PvP, and do it your way. We've seen guilds who have managed it and done quite well out of it.

We can get OP rewards by PvPing, and then have to continue PvPing to keep them, or risk losing the rewards.

Granted we enjoy pvp when its nicely done, but I'm pretty sure you enjoy doing the whole PvE thing that would allow you to get the money/mats/whatever to get the rewards the other way.

Following me yet? ;)

Cats gone would be my vote as they unbalance things to much for the haves/have nots, whether they choose to PvP or not.

Just leave the OP mats in as even if you dont have any you can still function fairly normally.

*sigh* I dont think you are in the same conversation as me. The point is not "how can we get cats from OPs without PvP", its "how can we get equal cats in any way what so ever without PvP for an equal amount of effort".

As game mechanics stand, not at all, only through player intervension, which is vulnerable to other players.

Well lets not get started on the whole using pvp content for roleplaying, but not wanting to pvp nonsense ;)

Why should you get the same rewards for a different output? Having to dig or craft or earn money is far less of an "effort" than having to own an outpost; earning stuff is something you do anyway just by playing the game. But I'm glad you agree that you can earn cats without pvp. (You do agree don't you? Or are you just picking an subject with a completely subjective argument?)

Oh my. Relying on other players. What a hardship.

Far less effort than owning an outpost lol, is that possible?? Tell me spirteh how many times has your outpost been attacked? my problem with outposts is that they are far too easy to run once obtained, if one guild/faction/allience is strong enough to defend your outpost there is not alot to do, just defend every time people try and attack.
