No I don't get it. I don't get your paranoia. Thank you.

When it comes to PVP, t doesn't take a server full of "l33t kids" to ruin everyone's fun, just one.

Ahh, the poster child for the "No PvP" movement.
Thank you, Audrey, for making our argument for us.

If you want more of this, or if you want to give Audrey more opportunities to act out and try to receive the attention she so desperatly, desperatly wants; by all means, cry for more PvP. Because, you know, this time, it will be done right.

troll16 wrote:Not sure I follow your arguement. In a full PvP enviroment it is possible to spoil someones game. Which, is why people joining full PvP usually know and except the risk. Some get fed up because they are not able to visit areas without getting killed so they leave the PvP server and go to an RP or PvE server. Some games have safeguards so that people cannot be picked on, this one does not.

If we are talking about PvE/PvP here with areas that are full PvP it could result in areas becoming no go areas for some players. How will it effect your game?

You seem to be concerned that there is tension building in the forums. Well ingame that's the whole point of PvP to create tension.

As for implementation, it's far easier not to do it than have to clean up the mess afterwards.
hehe, what i am trying to say is i think it will be alright. I trust in the community to make the game fun and that it won't disintegrate into ganking.

conflict is good in character, it doesn't belong anywhere else.

just in case you haven't noticed, take a good look at her sig, she is apparently actively trying to display a "bad pvp player" ;)
ah and while you mention it, there are games that have done it right :)

A nice long thread again, and I have made my small contribution to it as well. Reading through it all, I just had an idea.

Those 'PvP flags' that are supposed to make Ryzom way of PvP different from all others have potential in fact. Not the way they are described now of course. The system is too confusing and it doesn't seem to offer full freedom/protection, so here is what I think should be done:

Putting on the 'non PvP' flag should prevent any player from attacking you, anywhere. In return, you can't attack any player anywhere either. Changing your mind should have a cost and take a while. This flag should also allow you to heal anyone anywhere, with possible exception of conflict zones during the events if cheating is a concern.

With such PvP I could live, I think. And maybe most of others could as well.

I see your point, but I don't think it will change the status quo in current PvP zones, specially Umbra. Supernode diggers would just turn PvP flag off (I would, unless going for some contact sport with Brith and co) and, as said somewhere else in this thread, a lot of open questions: if my guild declares war, my flag overrides it for me, tight? etc.

I'm not sure if I follow your meaning there. As long as one of the two is flagged 'non PvP' there will be no fight. There is still the question of who will get the mats first or who can dig more, but that is not the issue of this thread.

As for something overriding your flag: nothing is supposed to override it. If your guild declares a war, it is still up to you to choose if you are going to fight or not. You can be loyal to your guild and lay off your 'non PvP' flag, or say you are not going to fight anyway and keep the flag on. Either decision has its consequences but it is your decision.
