Community opinion on botting

i voted lifetime ban.

banning 24H is a joke.

rolling back to previous day's lvls is a joke. the first time they get caught is almost never the first time they have used a bot.

either punishment is no deterrent at all - it is sort of like giving them dp for botting - the punishment makes the risk very acceptable.

a person who uses a bot is a person with a certain frame of mind - it is that frame of mind that destroys the game as much as anything.

just get rid of them. we don't need 'em. although i imagine nevrax is thinking they do need their money - which is probably why their response has been what it has up to this point.

Genuine player were voicing their concerns that the matter is not being dealt with. A genuine player, proved the system works. A non genuine player would not post here for you to persecute him. Sorry you see my actions as dishonorable, but those who have quit over this issue, those who are planning on quiting over this issue, those who have wondered if the gm/nevrax even care now we have the answer.

I think the only way we would get an answer on what punishments were in place would be from someone actually botting to test the system in the way Lorzazel did. However, couldnt it have been done with an alt specifically created for this purpose, then deleted after the 'experiment' ? I for one could not use Seren to do what you did, any further progress i made in the tree i botted would be soured from then on and maybe even any further playing of the char as i hate the idea of botters and botting.

I understand nevrax's stance on not wanting to interfere with lvls already gained, but if they cannot roll back lvls, imo they need to dish out much longer bans/ deletion of chars.

The onlly thing i wish I had done different which i would have done if I had thought about it. Was to set my q stanza to like 20 so i would not have gotten any xp, as it is I did get a lvl at it and if anyone wants to flog me for that lvl you can take me and feed me to the tyranchas till i have max DP.

So-called "bots" are intended to automatically perform actions in the user's absence. They are considered as "macro tools" and their use is strictly forbidden in Saga Of Ryzom, as previously announced by Nevrax in a recent statement regarding the use of 3rd party tools:

Has the CoC been updated yet? The announcement for the change was on July 8th. "strictly forbidden" behavor should be explicitly defined. The bylaws used don't apply to botting by any interpretation, unless the ability to macro repetitive actions is a "bug".

Granted things can get so repetitive... I went out hunting the other day... Found a nice spot: space; handbar 2; shortcut 6; shortcut 6; shortcut 6; /Assist; shortcut 9; //*heal healer* if chat="Ding!" then "/say w00t!"; if leveled=true then "/say ding!"; repeat;

But a little light bulb should flicker when it gets like that... "I could be doing something else..."

Regardless, people who bot should have their computers tied to the working end of a bodoc and dragged through Majestic Gardens and then have the pieces mailed back to them. Just my humble opinion.
