Well first thanks for not trolling you are maybe the only one not doing so. Well I do not like this way but I'll try to answer each points:
That's true. But it can also be strategical and competitive choices. Even the ORG project decided not to disclose some data not to favor other possible buyers.
Of course we agree on that.
nothing *known*. But this does not mean the "known" is good, or well-thought.
I also agree on that. We have each our own view of the subjet. At least I would say it is good in it's ideals. Well thought? Well not at the begining and surely with a unpredictable future but also with the more interesting and rich possibility for the evolutions ryzoms deserve.
I looked at the budget. I won't comment on that -- one full paid developer to open the code? --
Of course the budget does mean nothing since the new plan appearance. If the tribunal gives nevrax some more time we will clarify that one. For you must be sure that the tribunal can't accept unserious request.
The idea of opening Ryzom had been planned for months, being the "desmise of Ryzom" for granted, just a matter of time (this assertion, coming from someone who states that he has a NDA that prevents him from commenting on his laid-off, is a bit tight, imho, but just a minor thing)
I'd like to know the sources on that one: it's a bit to easy to talk about the impossibility of talking isn't it? But it's true is an ancient idea, after all the opening of the sources is at the very the roots of ryzom: the ryzom with O. Lejade before the release.
So much for the community project then!. The *community* has already decided who the partners would be. Who the hosting company would be. How they would operate!. I find that... "ironic" -- with a bit of misuse of the word to please some friends -- as in "we, the community, have decided that in our best interest, Mr. Lejade and Mr. Lacambre will be our partners". Yes, it was tight in time and it was presented as a vote "Agree, not agree".
Well except cynism I'm sorry not but be able to extracts points or arguments from here
.
The fact that he departed gives him a lot of credibility.
Well when your dream is reshappen and cut from is future because of lack of ambition, I'll gladly answer yes and that it is a proof of integrity. Though I do not share completly his views on the non choice of an editor at the time and what he has done since do not quite convince me. Please do note his nowadays team is also on of the roots of ryzom.
The community behind the non-profit organization has 1/3rd of the voices.
Pure play on word 1/3 is a major role.
I did not get that, sorry. Central one? server specialist? why continue with Jolt? and why not? was Jolt asked to become the hosting server? Was Adviseo selected as a hosting service in the best interest of the community, the french location carefully selected, or just put as illustrative purposes?
Sorry if i didn't made myself clear. The main supporter of our projet si Mr Lacambre, becoming also the third partner. As managing server is one of his main activities (
http://www.gandi.net/domain/detail was launched by him ) and a partner of the projet he will of course make the best proposal for "our" server. Keeping in mind we don't have a reason to stay with jolt at that we are very tight on the budget his proposal is not only cheaper but it places the server in the hand of the "triumvirat" and not on a side company which has nothing to do with ryzom. In this way the server are not exiled but at the very center of the partnership.
A perfectly fine example of perfectly community-driven project, at least in apparence. I guess a 2000Eur pledging player would have had something to say there? nopes. The only choice is "we have evaluated this and we have decided that our only hope is to team up with these two investors. If you want, you can withdraw your pledge".
Which is quite honest we won't want people to be forced to stay while the orientation is a bit changed, but not the goals. Beside you dont buy a power of vote with money it's not the spirit of the association.
I hope I have clarified some points for you.
