We have diametrically opposed definitions of what makes for a good community then. When I look at EvE I see something completely ruthless and cutthroat, full of betrayal and nastiness. I had my fill of that playing Vampire LARPs.

i see intelligent people working together in teams, helping each other out with a willingness that's equal to what i experienced on leanon, people that can enjoy a good battle and a good chat afterwards even if they just lost over half of their ingame assets, people that spend hours on ends talking with each other to work out territorial conflicts and most ironically: i see pvp doing exactly the opposite of what you always claim it does.

it makes people bind together, willing to help newbies, considerate to the other, while those that you so despise, the anti-social leet gank-kiddies stay unable to integrate themselves in the community and are usually ousted quite fast, often leading to a quitting of the game. they do not flock to that game because it has pvp, they leave it because they are inable to function in the pvp it has.
funnily enough i have seen all of these things happen on leanon too, with no exception.

Oh God... please, I beg of you not to mention Eve on this board. Anytime one mentions Eve rabid fanbois come running to tell how great their game is.

And I've seen none of that. So it goes.

Yeah, it's great... and full of backstabbing, as grimjim says. Noone will deny that... most after the last news of some corps being stolen by more than 300M and that stuff xD

I'm just wondering who are these others. I haven't seen much about someone saying that Ryzom is not about PvP. PvP has allways been PART of Ryzom, but it's not all about what Ryzom is.
Ryzom is not about being neutral.
My character is neutral. She doesn't follow Kami or Karavan path, nor she does have any interest to fight agaist other homins.
<IC>"I'm Tryker, why I HAVE TO do what others say. Why can't I be Tryker and do what I wanna do. If I don't like Karavan or Kami attitude and how they manipulate us homins to fight they wars. Why can't I choose to go my own path? Who are You to tell me how I should behave?"</IC>
I'm sorry but this attitude is exactly what drove me away from Ryzom last time. I will not let it happen again.
Yes, this goes both ways.
