Many hits = high CPU usage, DUH! >_>ummax wrote:okay again why dont they change to a host with the power to manage the site first you say its the hits then you say there is a problem with the cpu?
one where certain parties will profit while putting in minimal money, like hyenas eating a lions killtryzovia wrote:And can you tell me what is the ryzom we have in mind?

Again so why are they not moving to a server with the power to manage it ?(forget that i am not the wiz with terminology that you are). Exactly why is it that you decided to take a side route to derail the actual problem of the website not being up and not working when it needs to be so that people who did read the article can go to the site and see the information?kaetemi wrote:Many hits = high CPU usage, DUH! >_>
They were slashdotted when they went public, if you don't know that yet.
ofc I dotryzovia wrote:But you should know better than us.
Flame? Hate? not really. At least not from me. Suspicious? yes. Inquisitive? that too.. wary? yup. Specially when they ask for money.desdi wrote:What I can't really understand is the flame on the projet:
you may well disapprove there are good reasons and the actual presentation might be one it but I don't see why hating it so much.
That's true. But it can also be strategical and competitive choices. Even the ORG project decided not to disclose some data not to favor other possible buyers. That, considering we don't even know the other propositions ( stop dreaming about big compagnies ... who are the dreamer here? )
nothing *known*. But this does not mean the "known" is good, or well-thought.It's quite an unstable position to compare something with clear objectives, a futur for ryzom and ... well nothing. At least an honest intellectual position wouldn't dare the nothing.
I looked at the budget. I won't comment on that -- one full paid developer to open the code? --Sure the budget as to be rewritten since the first dream-like plan.
Wrong two weeks are not enough, we tried our best and some people didn't even slept:
So much for the community project then!. The *community* has already decided who the partners would be. Who the hosting company would be. How they would operate!. I find that... "ironic" -- with a bit of misuse of the word to please some friendshere we are with the current 3 partner plan.
The community behind the non-profit organization has 1/3rd of the voices.Us the player, we are also the player community of ryzom even if it doesn't pleases you. Acting as a major role
The fact that he departed gives him a lot of credibility.Olivier Lejade, who hasn't show anything impressive the past years but departed before the dream of Ryzom became what we know today: an beautifull place of broken promises
I did not get that, sorry. Central one? server specialist? why continue with Jolt? and why not? was Jolt asked to become the hosting server? Was Adviseo selected as a hosting service in the best interest of the community, the french location carefully selected, or just put as illustrative purposes?-Valentin Lacambre, network and server specialist ( why continue with jolt a side compagnie as we can have a central one with us? ) and a well known figure of open software.
And you think everything simply just happens like that? The downtime that happens when moving to a new server? Does such a server even exist? Maybe you need more than 1 server?ummax wrote:Again so why are they not moving to a server with the power to manage it?
